Tekken 8has been filling out its roster over the past couple of months, giving us a partial look at the game’s roster. Finally, we’ve been given our best look at the game yet thanks to a new trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live, which included brief looks at pretty much every character in the game’s base roster alongside a release date of Jul 29, 2025.

First off, this new trailer gave us a first look at the game’s new single player mode which is called Arcade Quest, which lets you create your own chibi character and run around a small arcade. It seems like it’s fairly similar to Street Fighter 6’s Battle Hub mode, as it lets you fight other competitors at digital arcade cabinets, compete in tournaments, customize your character, and more. It seems to be single player only though, targeting those who enjoy a traditional Arcade mode

On top of that, we also got the confirmation that Tekken 8 will have a 32 character roster from launch, as well as a very brief look at numerous characters including Yoshimitsu, Kuma, and more. A numbner of different character outfits were also shown off, as it seems like you’ll be able to customize your favorite characters either at launch. Pre-orders open today for those of you that want to get your purchase in early, with three different editions to choose from.

Not only does this new trailer give us a new look at a bunch of previously unannounced characters, but Kuma’s new design also lends even more credibility to a controversial roster leak that was shared not too long ago. Earlier this month, it was revealed thatTekken 8 will bring back Raven from Tekken 5and will introduce a newcomer to the series in a character called Azucena, both of which appear on the leaked roster that has the community split regarding its legitimacy.

Of course, Tekken 8 wasn’t the only big game to show up at Opening Night Live, as it was a pretty big outing for publisher Bandai Namco. On top of the Tekken 8 release date, it was also announced thata new Little Nightmares game is currently in development, scheduled to release at some point in 2024.

Other big highlights from the show includedan in-depth look at Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertyand all of its updated combat systems,a release date for Sonic Superstars, andthe reveal of Shao Khan and Sindel in Mortal Kombat 1, alongside some gruesome gameplay showing off what the pair are capable of.
