Fontaine has been quite an awesome region inGenshin Impactever since its release. Apart from a brand-new arc of the main story, it also brought a new type of characters in the game who deal a ton of damage but also lose their health in the process.Wriothesleyis one of these characters.
He’s a five-star Cryo character who wields a catalyst as his weapon. He uses his gauntlet to punch the daylight out of enemies, and the damage dealt by the character is buffed when his Skill is used. However, he also starts losing his health with the buffed attacks.

Main DPS Build For Wriothesley
While he’s a great character to play as,Wriothesley still doesn’t have a lot of variety in his builds. The only build you can go for is the main DPS since he needs to stay on the field to deal a good amount of damage. However, you have quite a lot of choices for your Weapons and Artifacts on this build.
Being a catalyst user, Wriothesley deals Cryo damage for all his attacks. This already lets hisNormal Attacks deal a ton of damage since the Elemental DMG Bonus is applied to them. However, the DMG is buffed even more when you activate his Skill, since it gives the Normal Attacks a direct damage boost.

The Skill has a ten-second duration with a 16-second cooldown in the base kit,but the downtime can be improved with the Constellations.
When your health is below 60 percent, you may useWriothesley’s Charged Attack to recover 30 percent of your Max HP. Keep in mind that the DMG bonus applied from the Skill only stays as long as your HP is above 50 percent. Here’s how all the weapons mentioned above suit this play style:

Cashflow Supervision
Apart from giving you some Crit Rate, this weapon increases your ATK, Normal Attack DMG, and Charged Attack DMGsimply by having a change in your HP. Moreover, you can also get some ATK SPD to deal more Normal Attacks.
Lost Prayer to the Sacred Wind
you’re able to get this weapon through the Standard Banner, and it gives you up to 32 percent Elemental DMG Bonusif you stay on the field for over 16 seconds, which is normal for Wriothesley.
The Crit Rate provided by the weapon is also much higher, whichmakes your Artifact stat requirements much easierif you use the correct Artifact set.

Tulaytullah’s Remembrance
This weapon gives Wriothesley aton of ATK SPD and Normal Attack DMGsimply by using his kit properly, which makes it the second best in slot weapon for him. However, you can only acquire it when it’s featured on the weapon banner.
Flowing Purity
Being a craftable weapon, you can easily get Flowing Purity to Refinement Five, making it a great pick for Wriothesley. It gives him a ton of ATK and Elemental DMG Bonus based on your max HP.
Of course, you’ll getfar less value if you use Flowing Purity instead of Cashflow Supervision, but it’s still good enough to make the character worth it. The only reason this four-star craftable weapon doesn’t suit Wriothesley too much is because he scales on ATK, which means that he’ll have quite low HP.
As for the Artifact set bonuses, you’ll get the most value if you use the Marechaussee Hunter set. It gives you up to 36 percent free Crit Rate and increases your Normal and Charged Attack DMG. The free Crit Rate allows you to build a ton of Crit DMG on your Artifact stats, increasing his DMG monumentally.
you’re able to still use the Shimenawa set until you have good Artifacts on Marechausseesince it also gives him a massive DMG boost.
However, you won’t be able to use Wriothesley’s Ultimate as much, which deals quite a lot of DMG.
Artifact Stat Priority For Wriothesley
Now that you know the best weapons and Artifacts you can use on this character, the next step is to talk about Artifact stats. There are five Artifact types in Genshin Impact, and all of them have one main stat with up to four sub-stats. Here are the best possible stats you should be looking for Wriothesley:
HP (guaranteed)
ATK (guaranteed)
Crit DMG/Rate
Crit Rate/DMG > ATK Percent > Elemental Mastery
You only need Elemental Mastery if you’replanning to use him in a reaction-based team, which is the best for him.
However, you’re able to switch it to Energy Recharge if you’re going for a mono-Cryo team.
You’ll need far more Crit Rate if you’re not using the Marechaussee set on him, which heavily raises the priority of getting Crit Rate. You’llmost likely have to get a Crit Rate main stat on the Circletin that scenario.
Wriothesley Talent Priority
You can find Wriothesley’s Talents by heading over to the respective screen in the character information menu. This screen displays three active Talents and three passives, two of which boost his damage in combat. You can unlock these passives simply by ascending the character, but the active talents need to be upgraded.
Wriothesley’sNormal Attacks will give you the most damage, making them the first priority undoubtedly. Once you’re done with his Normal Attacks, you can go for the Skill to increase the DMG bonus provided. Finally, you can upgrade his Ultimate last, but this isn’t required if you’re using the Shimenawa Artifact set.
Is Wriothesley Worth Pulling?
When Wriothesley was first revealed, there wasn’t a lot of buzz around the character since nobody knew who he was. However,a lot of people started liking him once he became a part of the main story. If you’re a F2P or low-spending player, you always have to think about a character’s worth before pulling them on your account.
The first variable you should consider in this is always the fun aspect. If you like the character and their play style, it’s undoubtedly worth going for Wriothesley. However, here are a few reasons you might want to skip him if you’re talking only about meta:
At the end of the day, Wriothesley will be able to clear the hardest content in the gameeven at zero constellations if you build him properly and get the right team with him. So, the final decision relies on how much fun you have with him. you’re able to also take the banners that’ll come after him into consideration.
