Taking a Long Rest at the camp is one of the most important things you’ll do inBaldur’s Gate 3. This is the only way to fully restore your party’s hit points, spell slots, and powers, but it comes at a cost. To get the full benefits of a Long Rest, you’ll need to consume Camp Supplies - food and drink to keep your team fit and healthy.

Camp Supplies can take up a lot of space in your inventory, but they’re necessary for survival. As the game progresses, you’ll need to plan carefully to avoid being overencumbered.
How Many Camp Supplies Should You Carry?
You’ll only get the full benefits of a Long Rest if you spend enough Camp Supplies upon lying down on your bedroll by the campfire to sleep. In most games, you’ll need to spendforty Camp Supplies' worth of food and drinkfor a Long Rest.
On Tactician Difficulty, you need to spendeighty Camp Suppliesfor a Long Rest - be sure you’ve always got plenty on hand!

If you don’t spend the required amount of Camp Supplies, you’ll take aPartial Restinstead of a Long Rest. Your characters will still recover some hit points and spell slots, but youravailable Short Rests for the following day will not be restored, limiting your ability to heal before you need to return to camp again. On the plus side, this means that you canstill get some limited recovery without spending any Supplies.
It’s best toalways have enough Camp Supplies on hand for two Long Rests. If you don’t mind some extra micromanagement, you can alwaysleave your supplies in the Traveler’s Chest at campand pull them out before bedding down for the night.

Where To Find Camp Supplies
Any type of food or drink, except those which are rotten, poisoned, or otherwise inedible, can be used as a Camp Supply. In general, the healthier and more filling an item is, the more Camp Supplies it provides.
An item’s Camp Supply rating is prominently featured in its tooltip - just hover over the item to see how much it’s worth.

Camp Supplies can be found in the field, usually in baskets, barrels and other storage containers, orpurchased from traders.The default price for Camp Supplies isone gold piece per Camp Supply rating, but this will vary based on how the individual merchant likes you.

Best Camp Supplies
There is plenty to eat in Faerun, from berries foraged in the wild to lavishly-prepared meals from the best chefs in Baldur’s Gate. If your inventory is getting full and you need to offload some weight, consider which foods willprovide the most Camp Supplies for their weight.
In general, the worst Camp Supplies includealcohol and large cuts of meat; the former because they don’t provide much nutrition, the latter because they are exceptional heavy compared to the amount of use you’ll get out of them.
Cheeses, baked goods, and dried sausagesmake for good staples in your pack, thoughspicy sausages weigh morethan their plain counterparts while providing the same amount of nutrition.
The best Camp Supplies includefresh vegetables, which usually stack in your inventory and provide a good ratio of supply-to-weight, andcooked meals. A single cooked meal such asHaggisor paellacan provide a significant portion of your required Supply for an evening while taking up very little of your carrying capacity. The best supply-to-weight ratio that we’ve found in the game so far isPoutine, which provides an astonishing twenty Camp Supplies while weighing only one-quarter of a kilogram.
As a rule of thumb, attempt to carry food that providesat least twenty Camp Supply per kilogram.
When in doubt, aSupply Packis an adventurer’s best friend. Its supply-to-weight ratio is dead average, buta single Pack can feed your entire partyfor a Long Rest unless you’re playing on the highest difficulty setting.
