With heroic cats like Sergeants Tibbs, who go beyond the line of duty, and adorable kittens like Marie, Berlioz, and Toulouse, whose personalities bounce off each other, Disney is a cat lover’s dream. While plenty of cats have been featured in Disney movies over the years, these are the ones who have left a real impression.
7Rufus - The Rescuers
Rufus is a senior cat who lives at Morningside Orphanage and has a close friendship with Penny, one of the residents. When mice Bernard and Miss Bianca visit the orphanage to investigate Penny’s whereabouts, they speak to Rufus, who tells them about the day before Penny disappeared.
Although Rufus has a small part in The Rescuers, his conversation with Penny is heartwarming, encouraging her to have faith that she will one day be adopted. Rufus likens faith to a bluebird in the distance, saying that although Penny can’t “touch it or buy it or wrap it up tight,” it’s always there, “making things turn out right.” When Penny is adopted at the end, Rufus appears alongside her, implying that he’s going to her new home, too.

6Thackery Binx - Hocus Pocus
Thackery Binx was originally a human but was transformed into an immortal black cat by the Sanderson sisters, a group of witches who took his sister’s lifeforce. Though Binx is now a cat, he retains his human personality and emotions, helping Max, Dani, and Allison to stop the Sanderson sisters once and for all.
Binx’s relationship with Dani is particularly touching, with himseeing her as a younger sister to protect, which makes their goodbye even more heartbreaking. Binx is a helpful character made even more memorable thanks to his cute cat form.

5Sergeant Tibbs - One Hundred And One Dalmatians
When Cruella de Vil’s henchmen steal Pongo and Perdita’s puppies, they use the Twilight Bark to alert the Colonel and his dedicated subordinate, Sergeant Tibbs. Sergeant Tibbs discovers that the puppies are being hidden in the old de Vil place and devises a plan to rescue them.

Sergeant Tibbs shows courage as well as smarts, helping the puppies to escape the grasp of Cruella. He’s a brave little cat and a cute one too. It says a lot for a cat to be memorable in a movie called One Hundred and One Dalmatians, after all.
4Figaro - Pinocchio
In Pinocchio, Figaro is Geppetto’s delightful tuxedo kitten with an expressive personality. Figaro’s reactions are always humorous, such as when he’s exasperated when Pinocchio keeps him awake. Figaro even has his own sleeping cap, which he looks adorable in. Though Figaro is jealous of Pinocchio at first, he soon learns to love him and cries when he disappears.
Figaro didn’t just enamor the movie’s audiences, but Walt Disney himself, withFigaro’s key animator Eric Larson saying he “fell in love”with the character’s sequences. It’s easy to see why, as Figaro is as charming as cats can be.

3Oliver - Oliver & Company
Oliver & Company’s main character is a ginger kitten called Oliver who has a difficult start in life, similar to his namesake, Oliver Twist. When the box Oliver is left in is destroyed because of the rain, he attempts to learn about living onthe streets of New York City, though he’s not yet street-wise and falls for Dodger’s tricks.
Oliver’s adorable personality makes you want to see him find a home where he belongs, eventually finding his forever home with a young girl named Jenny.

2Marie, Berlioz, And Toulouse - The Aristocats
Some of Disney’s most recognizable cats, Marie, Berlioz, and Toulouse are Duchess’ kittens in The Aristocats who, alongside her, are abandoned by their owner’s spiteful butler. Each kitten has a distinct look and personality that makes them stand out.

Berlioz is gray with a red ribbon and a cheeky personality that often clashes with his sister Marie; Toulouse is a ginger cat with a blue bowtie who wants to be like an alley cat; and Marie has the strongest resemblance to her mother with pure white fur - she’s learning to be a lady like her mother, but is still playful with her brothers.Their dynamic together is both entertaining and sweet, just like a real group of kittens.
1The Cheshire Cat - Alice In Wonderland
The Cheshire Cat is an eccentric cat who somewhat guides Alice through Wonderland, though his advice is often more confusing than helpful. He is a striped pink and purple cat with piercing yellow eyes, but his main characteristic is his wide, toothy grin.
The Cheshire Cat has mysterious abilities, turning parts of his body invisible at will. His bizarre demeanor and unknown allegiances make him an intriguing character and distinct from other Disney cats, making him one of the most stand-out fictional cats ever.
