InRemnant 2, Archetypes serve the same purpose as classes do in other games. These Archetypes help shape your character and can be chosen based on how you prefer to play and what suits your preferences. Whether you’re playing on your own or with friends online, there might be times when you’re flying solo and don’t have a companion, or perhaps you simply want to take on the game independently.
If you decide to embark on a solo adventure, it’s crucial to select the Archetype that will carry you effectively throughout the game. However, keep in mind that the game provides the flexibility to use two Archetypes simultaneously, allowing you to switch between them during your gameplay.

Updated on July 15, 2025, by Mohamed El Ouardighi:With the release of a new Remnant 2 DLC, the Forgotten Kingdom, comes a powerful new Archetype. This time, the Invoker joins the ranks of available archetypes, offering a solid option for solo players.
Medic
Althoughthe Medic Archetypemight not initially seem like the best choice for a solo adventure, its capabilities are quite compelling. Despite being labeled as asupportive class that primarily emphasizes healing and grants buffs to allies, it’s essential to note that these advantages extend to benefit you as well. This means you can embark on your journey independently, without requiring assistance.
Thanks to the self-healing abilitiesat your disposal, your reliance on Relics will be minimal and you will reserve them only for serious situations.

While offensive options may not be its primary focus, the Medic remains dependable through its potent healing abilities and the ability to bolster oneself during combat.
Summoner
Considering the Summoner as one of your Archetype choices can be quite beneficial, and here’s why. This particular Archetypecenters around summoning Root Minionsthat offer both offensive and defensive assistance in combat. Since you’ll be playing the game on your own and facing numerous enemies, having extra supportcan prove incredibly valuable.
With the Summoner Archetype, you’re granted the ability tosummon three distinct types of Minions. What’s more, its standout ability,Ruthless, allows you to enrage those Minions toincrease their damage and speed.

However, it’s important to note that summoning these minions comes at a price;your health. This is why it’s advisable toprioritize the Vigor Traitearly on. This investment willenhance your maximum healthand you will not have to pick between summoning or conserving your health. Additionally, you should consideracquiring the Amber Moonstone, as it will boost your defenses when your health is at a lower level.
Hunter
The Hunter Archetypespecializes in long-distance combat, and if you’re playing solo, it’s wise to conserve your Relics, especially since the game begins with just three. Its advantages are centered aroundimproving ranged damage, exploiting weak spots, and boosting reload speed.
Opting for this Archetype gives you access to theHunter’s Mark skill, which marks all nearby enemies. This approach lets you navigate through encounters strategically, without needing to get up close, and all marked enemies also become more susceptible to increased damage.

Moreover, another unique skill to this Archetype isHunter’s Shroud, which basically makes you invisible.
With those skills at your disposal, youwon’t have to worry about getting ambushed by enemiesand you will easily clear entire dungeons with minimal need for healing and no major challenges.

Invoker
The Invoker Archetypeis the latest addition introduced with the Forgotten Kingdom DLC, andthis class focuses on enhancing your skills. Its Prime Perk,Visionary, grants youa double charge of any skill across all archetypes, allowing you to use powerful skills more than the usual in succession.
Moreover, activating any skill providesa cooldown reduction to all skills, enabling you to quickly recharge and use them again to maintain your combat effectiveness.

The majority of the Invoker’s perks revolve aroundskill potency and cooldown reduction. Its skills primarilyconsist of area-of-effect attacks that target multiple enemies simultaneously. However, one notable skill,Way of Meidra, allows you to heal yourself and any allies nearby, making it a valuable secondary option for healing in case you run out of Relic recharges.
Pairing the Invoker archetype with classes such as the Summoner or the Ritualist creates a potent combination, enabling you to solo the game effectively without the need for another player.

Ritualist
The Ritualist Archetypeis an addition to Remnant 2, introduced with the Awakened King DLC, and it’s a strong one. Specializing ininflicting status effects on enemies, the Ritualist employs a strategic approach where thestatus effects take center stage, allowing you to conserve ammo and let the effects weaken your foes.
What sets the Ritualist apart is itsPrime Perk Vile, enabling affected enemies tospread the status effect to those nearby. This means you can focus on applying the effect to a single enemy, whether it’s setting them on fire or causing them to bleed, and witness the ripple effect as others suffer the consequences.
The Affliction Traitfor the Ritualist helpsincrease the duration of status effects. This means enemies will suffer from these effects for a longer period.
The majority of Ritualist skills revolve aroundarea-of-effect attacks, delivering damage while simultaneously applying the status effect.
Engineer
The Engineerspecializes in wielding powerful heavy weaponry, which can be deployed in turret mode. Although these turrets are stationary and can’t move, they offer valuable coverage, particularly when dealing with numerous adversaries; which is something you’ll frequently encounter while playing Remnant 2.
With the Engineer Archetype, there arethree different heavy weapon optionsavailable for you to use and employ in turret mode.
Two more reasons why the Engineer stands out as a strong choice are the standoutPrime Perk called High Techallows you to enhance your weapons by overclocking them. This results ininfinite ammo and a damage boostthat can be a life savior when running low on ammunition while facing off against enemies.
Secondly, theFortify Traitaugments your armor effectiveness, thereby increasing your defensive capabilities. This Archetype boasts versatility in both offensive and defensive aspects, making it a well-rounded option for a solo journey in Remnant 2.
Handler
The Handler is arguably the best Archetypefor a solo run in Remnant 2 simply because of itsloyal dog companion. Dogs aren’t just remarkable companions in real life; they also excel as allies in video games.
This Archetype revolves around your trusty dog companion and offersthree distinct modes for commanding its actions. You can direct it to stay close by your side, have it engage enemies at a specific location, or allow it to enter a boosted state to increase its effectiveness.
This dog partner isn’t just about fierce combat;it’s also good at distracting enemies.
What’s more, this loyal dog possesses a truly standout ability:it can actually revive you, provided you have a charge from your Relic. This skill is undeniably its strongest suit.
Imagine being in the midst of a solo run, down to your final chance in a boss fight, and then you get down. The resulting frustration can be immense, butthere’s no need for such worry with the Handler, as your faithful companion will bring you back to life.
This aspect eliminates the need for an additional player to intervene and you may easily complete a solo playthrough of Remnant 2 using only the Handler.
