Updated on July 24, 2025 by Dennis Moiseyev:Call of Duty remains a pinnacle first-person shooter series that consistently has a new launch once every year. And thankfully, the iconic military shooter doesn’t ignore consoles like the PS4, which are becoming a thing of the past for most of the new video games coming out today. Below we’ve added a couple more CoD games from the Modern Warfare series available on PS4.

The great thing about Call of Duty is that it continues to launch on older-gen consoles like PS4, and 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 is no exception. However, you might be disappointed with what MW3 entails. It has the shortest campaign of all CoD games, just a brief five-hour expansion of MW2’s story. It also has new missions that are Ghost Recon-esque called ‘Open Combat Missions,’ which ruin it.

The multiplayer does offer 16 maps from the original Modern Warfare 2, and the game’s entire theme is the celebration of the CoD series. Zombies mode is also reinvigorated with new features, like allowing 24 players on one map. But before any of this, you’ll have to go through an incredibly tedious process to access your gamethat will also eat up a lot of your storage.

Set in the future, Advanced Warfare’s campaign focuses a lot on politics, more so than other titles in the series. Going against the norm for CoD campaigns, there are twists and turns to the narrative that build towards a thrilling climax.

The multiplayer maps are well-designed, leaving plenty of room to surprise your opponents and offer a great variety. However, the online doesn’t come without controversy. There’s a lack of balancing on some guns, leaving there to be less variety in those used, and the kill streaks in this title leave a lot to be desired.

Black Ops 4 does a very good job of bringing all the Black Ops titles together. While there is no single-player campaign and the content in the Multiplayer mode lacked anything new, the addition of the Battle Royale mode, Blackout, gave a new touch to the series and really shaped the series' future.

Zombies adds a lot to any CoD title. However, the changes made in Black Ops 4 aren’t necessarily for the better if you’re a long-term fan. Instead, it appeals to newcomers with its improved health and more open maps. With a good variety of guns and gameplay that feels smooth, Black Ops 4 is decent, but it could also be so much better.

Set towards the end of the Second World War, Vanguard offers a short, yet pretty-looking campaign. The story environments are fantastic, and the introduction of tactical approaches to these areas allows you to play to your own style, while also offering replayability.

The Multiplayer offers a slightly different approach to other titles. You have more health, giving you more control over how you tackle gunfights with your opponents. While there is a large variety of maps and guns at your disposal, the use of dark tones and lack of additional lighting can become a nuisance to the overall experience.

2009’s Modern Warfare 2 is a masterpiece of a CoD game and would be higher on this list if it came with all its bells and whistles on the PS4 remastered version, but that would only be in the 2022 Modern Warfare 2 remake. This is a 2020 HD remaster of Modern Warfare 2’s original campaign, but a solid one nonetheless.

The graphics, lighting, textures, and animations have all been improved, and you’ll certainly see that instantly. From the opening mission to the snowmobile chase to the Burger Town level to the final betrayal of General Shepherd and the infamous ‘No Russian’ mission, it’s an iconic campaign that has so many memorable characters and moments.

Modern Warfare 2 offers a great and fun Multiplayer with various modes and remakes of previous maps from the series' history. While there are brand-new levels, the better ones are unfortunately hidden behind paid DLC.Weapons sadly fall victim to the same issue, as some are included as paid content and are part of the unnecessarily confusing Battle Pass, resulting in a heavy focus on monetization.

What the game does have going for it, is its impressive graphics, looking more realistic than ever. The campaign is also a highlight, filled with excellent acting, characters, and new mechanics. Overall, Modern Warfare 2 is a title that is trying new things, and if you’re a die-hard fan, it’s worth playing it out for yourself to see what there is to enjoy.

Ghosts is the first CoD game to grace the PlayStation 4. It brings impressive improvements to titles from the previous generation and allows for a level of personalization that other CoD titles didn’t include. The campaign will have you play through an impressive 18 missions, each boasting great-level design. However, each mission goes by too fast, as usual, resulting in a total campaign length of six hours.

While the original content maps are fairly on the average side, the DLC maps feel like an entirely new game. This unlocks a new level of fun to your experience. Assault Rifles and Snipers feel smooth and fluid; however, due to the smaller health you have, there are some guns, like LMGs and SMG, that stand out as easily better.

Infinite Warfare provides an incredible campaign with some fantastic acting throughout, which even includesstars like Kit Harington and Conor McGregor. The building of friendship and the depth of each character’s story is the glue that holds the narrative together, allowing you to connect on a personal level.

Unfortunately, Infinite Warfare came at a time when the fanbase was tired of the overdone sci-fi themes and wanted the series to go back to the classic war shooter it once was. However, it’s fair to say that a lot of effort was made with this title. Multiplayer is based on your skill as weapons are perfectly and accurately balanced, putting the focus on equality of gameplay and fun.

World War 2 brought the series back to the original style CoD was known for. While the campaign is mostly linear, it still offers you seven hours of intense gunfights, realistic facial animations, and an excellent acting cast. All of which only addsto the powerful finish of the story.

Overall, the multiplayer is a standout of this title. Character movement makes you feel fast and fluid. The guns are fun to shoot, each offering a good level of balance between them, and there’s a lot of variety. The maps don’t ever feel like they outstay their welcome and there are plenty of modes to get yourself lost in, including Zombies.

Warzone places you in a lobby with over 100 people as you battle it out to be the last one, or squad standing. There are various different modes and team sizes, meaning you can play solo or with a group of your friends.

Warzone has gone through a number of different iterations, including map changes, a periodic refresh of weaponry, and other consistent updates to keep it relevant to the latest titles. While not all of these changes have been for the better, it still remains a largely popular game and a great one for communicating with your buddies.
