Monster Loves You is a 2013 life sim where, predictably enough, you play as a monster. You go through all the phases of monster life, from birth to old age. Depending on the actions you choose, you can either live a normal life, or become a monster of great importance and status.

Despite the game’s simple premise, there’s a surprising amount of depth to its lore. Monsters are shown to have a set of morals that are alien to those of humans, and relations between humans and monsters are strained to the point where all-out war is possible. If you want a game where your choices matter, Monster Loves You is worth a try.

Little Misfortune touches on heavy themes, but it does so in a way that makes you feel lighter after having played it. The music is soothing, and the soft visuals are utterly gorgeous. It’s packed full of charming characters with adorable designs, but Monster Camp also makes several improvements to Monster Prom’s gameplay.

The first is its more fine-tuned character customization. While the first game had you take a quiz to determine your stats, Monster Camp gives you more control to make the character of your dreams. And while there’s a few recurring characters, most of the cast of Monster Camp make their debut here.

The game’s dark sense of humor is everywhere you look.

It throws you right into the story without much explanation, but it makes up for that fact with an array of well-written characters. The game’s dialogue flows naturally, and every NPC has a story to tell. While talking to NPCs can get repetitive in farming sims, there’s a tinge of realism to Graveyard Keeper’s cast.
