Druid spells cover the whole spectrum of powers that heal as well as harm, and a few of these options are shared by other classes like Clerics or Rangers. On the other hand, some talents and skills are reserved for Druids alone, and they’re not only useful but creative, and one of the special features that makes this class so powerful.

8Goodberry

The Alchemy tab is one way to get potions and elixirs delivered to the character’s inventory directly, but a spell that can accomplish the same is Goodberry. Only Druids can cast this unique spell, and it conjures four Goodberries, which can be used in or out of combat to restore health.

If the Druid casts this spell on themselves, the berries appear in their own inventory, and casting it on someone else causes the berries to appear in the target’s bag instead. The berries last until one full rest, but should there be a few left over at the end of the day, they can also be used as camp supplies.

7Thorn Whip

An ability more suited to Druids that are built for defense, this can be handy in any situation where there’s a troublesome enemy out of melee range. Thorn Whip is a ranged ability that does 1D6 piercing damage should it strike, and depending on the creature’s size, it can also pull the target three meters towards the Druid.

For Druids that have the close-range fighting skills, this can be used to corner enemies and destroy them at close range. Even DPS Druids and healers can use this spell to damage an enemy at ranged distance or pull one into the party’s reach.

6Faerie Fire

There are a few ways to get this very useful level one Evocation spell, which requires the character to maintain concentration so it can last the full ten turns. You can build a Drow, who knows this spell as a racial bonus, or a Ranger, Bard, or a Druid, classes that can learn this as a cantrip or level one spell.

Faerie Firehas an AoE effect that doesn’t cause any damage, but instead encases every creature in the area with sparkling light. This not only gives their opponents an Advantage in combat against them, but also makes it impossible for them to turn invisible.

5Produce Flame

Produce Flamewon’t be equally useful to every Druid, but for those who plan to forge a path through the Underdark, it’s indispensable until reaching Isobel in Last Light’s Inn. There are other sources of light that the party can use to find their way, but few are as easy to use as this handy spell.

When the Druid casts Produce Flame, a tongue of fire appears in their hand, illuminating everything within a nine-meter radius. It lasts until they take a rest, so they could use it all day, but they could also throw it as a ranged weapon. Clerics also have this spell in their repertoire.

4Protection From Poison

There’s so much Poison damage in Baldur’s Gate 3, but there are also several methods that you can use to cure it or at least neutralize the worst of the effects. Buy and brew potions, equip gear that improves their Poison resistance, or use spells likeProtection from Poisonto improve your chances.

The target is cured of Poison effects from which they’re already suffering along with getting Advantage on their saving throws and increased Resistance to Poison damage. The spell is also available via a scroll that other classes are able to cast, and Paladinswith the Druid.

The spell also works in difficult terrain like water, mud, or grease, but it doesn’t negate the effects of AoE spells like Poison Cloud or protect against terrain that’s covered in acid or on fire. Several support and healing classes also have access to this spell, including Rangers and Clerics.

2Cure Wounds

The most basic of all healing spells, Clerics and Paladins also have access to this essential healing utility. Simple and straightforward, this is a single target spell that can be used both in and out of combat to restore four to 11 hit points to the target.

The Druid has to be within melee range of the target to heal them, so it’s a spell that’sbetter for fightingin smaller spaces or when they party has to stack as a group. Even when a Druid learns higher level healing spells,Cure Woundswill remain one of your favourite healing spells.
