Terraria and Minecraft arecompared to each other a lot, which makes sense, as they are both block-based games. In Terraria, you will explore a 2D world, filled with unique bosses that drop rare items.

Essentially, Terraria is Minecraft but with more progression, You can craft and upgrade your gear, battle bosses in order until you reach the Moon Lord, and expand your base to house your NPCs, which provide items and abilities.

Starboundis very similar to Terraria, but you will have the ability to travel to space and visit other planets. In this game, the building style is reminiscent of Minecraft, utilizing blocks of materials that can be placed in the world structures.

Rather than just playing as Steve, you will get to pick from various species, such as the Novakid, shown in the image above. These are beings made out of energy with cowboy-themed villages scattered throughout the universe.

If you enjoy relaxing, farming materials, and building, then Valheim is the game for you. Set in a Viking world, Valheim can be incredibly peaceful, especially if you stick tobuilding in the Meadows biome. Of course, you can venture out to the Black Forest and Swamp, but be prepared to fight!

Minecraft takes a fantastical approach to building physics. By fantastical, we mean that they don’t exist. In Valheim though, you will need to take things like gravity and weight distribution into consideration. This will help you make relatively realistic buildings.

Ark Survival: Evolvedis a dinosaur survival game that has its own spin-off, titled Pixark. This spin-off is very similar to Minecraft, right down to the blocky graphics. While Ark Survival: Evolved is brutal and terrifying, Pixak takes a more ‘cute’ approach.
