If you’re looking for a change of pace, then hidden gems like Wagner can provide an unexpectedly big boost in defense, especially if you’re struggling to find an affordable LB option.
10Jordi Alba – 83 Overall
Despite age catching up to him, Jordi Alba still remains an effective utility player, especially if you’re working on a hybrid MLS team. His Spanish nationality makes him an excellent pivot option to mesh MLS with other leagues like La Liga where Spanish players are common.
His 84 Pace may not be the highest you’ve ever seen, but Alba won’t let many attackers by him even so. His ability to still effectively jump into the offense is welcome, especially if you’re able to put his 84 Crossing to good use. If you need a solid LB who won’t cost you a load of coins, then Alba is one of the best MLS choices.
9Trailblazers Evander – 83 Overall
A promo card that’s only 83-rated is rarely ever exciting, but Evander’s four-star Skill Moves and weak foot make him an extremely useable option in midfield. Evander’s Brazilian nationality further strengthens the possibility you’ll be able to link him outside an MLS team as well.
With a well-rounded set of attributes, Evander should do well as a box-to-box midfielder and exceptional ball carrier when you lean into his 87 Dribbling. 91 Agility and Balance are wonderful and will make his movement feel exceptionally smooth on the ball.
8Foundations Asier Illaramendi – 85 Overall
Asier Illaramendi should provide a somewhat similar midfield presence to Evander but with a slightly more defensive role. Illaramendi’s low Pace and much higher Defending rating make him ideal for a CDM role where he’ll excel at stopping oncoming attacks.
Luckily, once he regains possession from the opponent, you can rely on Illaramendi’s 86 Passing and Dribbling along with his Long Ball Pass PlayStyle to transition to offense. You shouldn’t try to step into the attack with Illaramendi himself as his attributes are better suited to finding the open player for a much better opportunity.
7Trailblazers Luciano Acosta – 84 Overall
If you’re looking for a strong attacking midfielder to link up with a certainotherArgentinian attacker in the MLS, then Luciano Acosta is an excellent choice. Without a doubt, Acosta’s strongest quality is his Dribbling, sitting at a 90 overall and supported by 95 Agility and 99 Balance.
With the ability to stay strong on the ball, Acosta can get into extremely dangerous positions to draw contact or slip a teammate through for a one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Even though his Shooting is lacking, Acosta does boast a fine set of PlayStyles like Incisive Pass, Technical, and Relentless to add to his other excellent attributes.
6Hero Clint Dempsey – 85 Overall
Clint Dempsey might be one of the most accomplished MLS players of all time, and he boasts a surprisingly well-rounded card to support that. He can play either CAM or LW, though he performs better centrally due to his limited Pace capabilities.
However, 85 Dribbling, 86 Shooting, and 80 Physical are solid and should make Dempsey feel quite reliable when it comes to finishing off chances. Dempsey is a great jack-of-all-trades but does nothing exceptionally well. He will make your MLS team tick, but you may not notice how he does it as he tends to fly under the radar when not scoring.
5Hero DaMarcus Beasley – 85 Overall
DaMarcus Beasley, like otherheroes, will provide two league links and one nation linkto the team, opening up a world of teambuilding options. This chemistry boost makes DaMarcus Beasley even more versatile, as he is capable of moving around the pitch to play either LB, LM, or LW depending onwhat formation you’re using.
Rapid, Quick Step and Relentless PlayStyles combine with Beasley’s 91 Pace to make him one of the hardest workers on the pitch as he closes down space in an instant. Wherever you use him, don’t be afraid to carry the ball with Beasley and make use of that 86 Dribbling.
4Trailblazers Kai Wagner – 84 Overall
Kai Wagner is absolutely one of the most underrated players in EASFC 24, partially because he goes unnoticed behind other notable LBs who receive higher-rated special cards. However, the rating only tells part of the story, though Wagner’s solid 84 overall is supported by excellent attributes for an LB.
86 Pace goes exceptionally well with Wagner’s 81 Defending and 85 Physical to make him a quick and reliable defender down the wings. Aside from his excellent attributes, Wagner also boasts Intercept, Relentless, and Jockey PlayStyles that will help youdefend and jockey your opponents effectively.
3Hero Jorge Campos – 87 Overall
Usually, a short and lean body type is seen as a huge liability for a goalkeeper, but Jorge Campos doesn’t let size deter his performances. While it’s unreasonable to expect a Courtois-like stretch save from this Mexican hero, Campos makes up for his stature with incredible 84 Speed and 90 Reflexes.
Factor in Campos 93 Diving, and you’ll still have a keeper who has an outstanding save or two in him, though he’d probably prefer a one-on-one situation over a shot from distance. Use Campos as a Sweeper Keeper who comes for crosses to take advantage of his quickness.
2Hero Landon Donovan – 86 Overall
Landon Donovan is a must-have for any MLS team as his hero status will help your chemistry while Donovan’s positional flexibility allows you to slot him almost anywhere. Donovan can play CF, Striker, RM, or even CAM, and will excel in these positions due to his high attributes.
89 Pace and 86 Shooting are an excellent combination for a player who will be relied on to score or create a goal wherever you play him. Donovan’s 81 Passing is solid enough to make him a prolific second Striker who can create his own shot or lay it off to his Strike partner for an easier chance.
1Lionel Messi – 90 Overall
When it comes to Lionel Messi, you know exactly what you’re getting: one of the greatest players of all time who still has some magic moments up his sleeve. He quickly became the best player to ever wear an MLS jersey and Messi’s fantastic attributes and PlayStyles back it up in-game as well.
Technical PlayStyle Plusmakes Messi even more menacing with the ball at his feet as it allows him to move even more precisely when performing Controlled Sprints or turning. 94 Dribbling and 90 Passing are incredibly helpful for using Messi to force your opponent to either defend the pass or get closer to defend Messi.
Dead Ball, Incisive Pass, Tiki Taka, and Quick Step are all fantastic additions to Messi’s arsenal, making him the best MLS player in EASFC 24.
