Just like mana ramp decks inMagic: The Gathering, the Sapphire ink inDisney Lorcanahas tons of cards that let you gain an advantage by placing more cards in your inkwell each turn and playing big boy cards while your opponent is still trying to catch up with their one lore chumps.
Related:Disney Lorcana: Sapphire/Steel Starter Deck GuideSapphire tends to be a defensive ink. It has cards that can stall out a couple of turns by removing threats and turning them into ink for your opponent and cards that can recover damage that your characters have taken fromchallenges. If you like big explosive turns in the late game of a match, then Sapphire is for you.

10Ariel, Whoseit Collector
The Mermaid princess has an incredible card in Lorcana. Although Ariel is not a card that can be turned into ink, her stat line of three/three and her effect make up for her tendency to be a brick. Sapphire has a ton of useful item cards that can proc Ariel’s effect to ready after she has challenged or quested for the turn.
This ability combined with powerful items like Coconut Basket can help Ariel clear your opponent’s board easily.

9Aurora, Charming Guardian
Sapphire has many cards that can constantly heal damage that your characters have taken from challenges so Aurora’s ability to give the rest of your characters Ward, makes your board almost untouchable and borderline annoying to deal with.
Paired with the fact that Aurora’s play cost is quite cheap, and can be even cheaperif you Shift her, makes her an excellent card to protect your heavy hitters or ink ramp cards like Gramma Tala or Belle.

8Belle, Strange But Special
Since Lorcana mechanics only allow you to place one card in your inkwell once per turn, the games tend to depend on who can play on curve faster, meaning drawing cards as soon as your ink allows you to play them, but Sapphire cards like Belle - Strange But Special can bypass these restrictions and give you a ton of ink to work with before your opponent can set up a board.
Related:Disney Lorcana: The Best Amber Cards In The First ChapterNot only does Belle allow you to ramp ink rather quickly, but her second ability activates when you have 10 or more cards in your inkwell, giving her four more lore, making her quest for five every turn.

7Coconut Basket
Because The First Chapter is the first booster expansion for Lorcana, many cards fulfill simple, yet effective roles. Coconut Basket is a card that removes damage from any of your characters.
Since items stay on the board as long as they are not removed by another card, by playing this card, you’ll have a constant stream of healing for your characters that have high lore counts. There are even cards that can reduce the cost of Coconut Basket to possibly play it for free.

6Flounder, Voice Of Reason
It is underestimated how good of a card Flounder is. Some players might brush over it since it’s a vanilla card, but a lot of decks don’t have great turn-one plays, and Flounder fixes that for Sapphire. Costing a single ink, Flounder has a stat line of two/two, which most one-drops will not. Flounder can quest for one lore, so if you want to be the aggressive one in the match and you go first, Flounder is the man for the job.
5Gramma Tala, Storyteller
Just like Founder, Gramma Tala is a great card for Sapphire to start aggressing early on in the match. Unlike the yellow and blue fish, Gramma Tala’s stat line is quite small, being a one/one card, but she makes it up with a killer ability.
Related:Disney Lorcana: The Best Art In The First ChapterWhen Gramma Tala is banished, you can simply place her in your inkwell instead, making her a resource for your next turn. If you play it correctly, you can quest a lot early while outpacing your opponent when it comes to ink, letting you play bigger cost cards first.

4Hades, Infernal Schemer
Every ink in Lorcana has its own version of removal, but Sapphire has an interesting way of approaching this. When Hades gets played, you can place a chosen character in your opponent’s inkwell. While we are yet to see how good this can become, since you are technically giving your opponent resources, Hades is still a menace once he comes into play.
His huge stat line of three/six can be deadly, especially if you have items in play like Coconut Basket that can constantly heal Hades as long as you keep playing characters.

3Let It Go
Just like Hades, Let It Go can remove an opposing character from the field and place it into their inkwell. While Hades is a huge wall that your opponent will have to puzzle on how to defeat, he does come in at a hefty cost of seven ink.
Let It Go, on the other hand, is a song that can be sung for free as long as there is a character with an ink cost of five on play. If you play your cards correctly, Let It Go is a free removal on a pesky character that your opponent just played.

2Maurice, World-Famous Inventor
Maurice is hands-down one of the best cards in The First Chapter. He can quest for two lore, which is a decent amount, but whenever he does, the next item you play costs two less ink. With the sheer amount ofitemsthat are in Sapphire, it makes playing Maurice an easy choice when playing any item-heavy deck.
Not only do you get to play your items for cheap while Maurice is in play, but his huge whopping seven Willpower will make sure he sticks around to draw you even more cards from his second ability.

1Tamatoa, So Shiny!
Being the ink with the most item cards in the game, Tamatoa is a great addition to any deck. If your opponent manages to get rid of your items, it’ll put a damper on your win condition, but Tamatoa can fish them back out from the discard pile with ease.
Tamatoa is one of the characters that can benefit the most from item-heavy builds since he can get an extra lore point for every item you have in play. Better start hoarding all of those dinglehoppers!
