In Twilight Princess, Link alternates between his human and wolf form, and with the help of Midna, ultimately saves Hyrule from being consumed by the Twilight Realm. Nearly two decades after Twilight Princess came out, Tears of the Kingdom harks back to that world.
7Boardsports
Before shield surfing, there was snowboarding, and in Twilight Princess, you must snowboard down the mountain to reach the Snowpeak Ruins. After completing the dungeon, you can challenge the character Yeto to a snowboarding race, and if you win his wife Yeta will invite you to race against her, too.
Tears of the Kingdombrings back shield surfing from Breath of the Wild.Equip your shield with ZL, jump with X, and press A, to see Link shredding down slopes or on mine rails with total freedom.

6Poes
Along with the Twilight Armor, Poes can be found all over the Depths. In Tears of the Kingdom, Poes are glowing spirits that can be exchanged for rewards at the Bargainer Statue in Joshua’s workshop at the home base Lookout Landing.

Previously, Poes appeared in Twilight Princess, where each Poe represented a piece of Jovani’s spirit, and the reward for finding them all was a source of unlimited rupees.
5Epona
Link’s beloved horse Epona makes an appearance in both Twilight Princess and Tears of the Kingdom. At the very beginning of Twilight Princess, Epona lives on the ranch where Link works and they get separated when Bulblins invade Ordon Village, but thankfully, Link and Epona later reunite in Kakariko Village.
In his wolf form, Link can converse with Epona in Twilight Princess.

On the other hand, you can only acquire Epona in Tears of the Kingdom with an Amiibo, as the Twilight Princess and Super Smash Bros. Link Amiibo unlocks Epona. Alternatively, the horses from Breath of the Wild carry over into Tears of the Kingdom, so if you registered Epona in your Breath of the Wild save file, you can summon her at one of the stables.
4The Sages
Sages are the guardians of the Zelda series, though their role and identity vary in each title. According to the lore in Tears of the Kingdom, the ancient Sage Rauru sealed away Ganondorf (who also appears in both games). When Ganondorf returns and threatens to destroy Hyrule, Link enliststhe help of the new Sagesto fight alongside him in the final battle.

In Twilight Princess, the Sages sentenced Ganondorf to death for his crimes that took place during the Ocarina of Time timeline. When the Sages stabbed him, he did not die, so they exiled him to the Twilight Realm instead. While they share a wound in the same place on their chests, Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf has no memory of and does not seem to be the Ganondorf from Twilight Princess.
3Twilight Helmets
In Tears of the Kingdom, the armor piecesMidna’s Helmetand Zant’s Helmet take inspiration from Twilight Princess. Midna, Link’s companion in Twilight Princess, became a fan favorite, due to her snarky humor and their endearing friendship. Although Midna’s absence in Tears of the Kingdom might sadden fans, a piece of her exists as the Midna’s Helmet, which looks like the mask she wears in Twilight Princess.
To obtain the gloom-resistant helmet, you must fight your way through waves of enemies at the Lone Island Coliseum in the Depths beneath Eventide Island. On the other hand, Zant is the villain who turned his Twili people into shadow enemies and dissolved the line between Hyrule and the Twilight Realm, and the freeze-nullifying helmet named after him can be found within the Scorching Coliseum in the Depths of Eldin Canyon.

2Twilight Armor
Like the Twilight Princess-themed helmets, the three-piece Twilight Armor set is locked away in the Depths of Tears of the Kingdom. When Link wears the green armor, he appears as the hero he was in Twilight Princess, even though he cannot transform into a wolf in this game.
TheCap of Twilightcan be found in the chasm southwest of the Typhlo Ruins. To acquire theTunic of Twilightchest, you should drop down the East Akkala Plains Chasm and make your way to the end of the Rist Mine. Finally, theTrousers of Twilightlined with cozy wolf fur are in the Ancient Underground Fortress under the South Akkala Plains.
1Tears of Light
While they come in different forms, tears link Tears of the Kingdom to Twilight Princess. The Tears of the Kingdom title refers to Dragon Tears, mysterious tear-shaped stones found within the Geoglyphs on the map. Link will be tasked with finding all twelve, and as he does, he relives memories from Hyrule’s past through which the game tells the main story. In these cutscenes, Zelda holds the Light Dragon’s Tearin the shape of a yellow tear-shaped stone.
Tears of Light are sacred tears obtained from defeating shadow enemies in Twilight Princess. As a wolf, Link can store these tears in a Vessel of Light that he gets from one of the four Spirits of Light, and when he collects enough tears, the light revives the Spirit. Perhaps the most important tear comes at the bittersweet end of Twilight Princess. Midna sheds one last tear which transforms into a ball of light, shattering the Mirror of Twilight and severing the connection between Hyrule and the Twilight Realm for good.
