Assassin’s Creedis a series that offerssome of the most fluent and immersive combatyou’ll encounter, paired with historical fiction. Much of that is owed to the variety of ways the gameplay allows you to tackle it, stealth or no stealth, and with some thrilling tools at your disposal to best dispose of enemies.
Tools play just as critical of a role as your assassin’s hidden blade and sword and dagger combo in Mirage (if not the most important), and you’ll want to unlock most of them early on.Miragegives you six, and here’s how they compare.

6Torch
You’ll acquire the torch early in the main story once you train with the assassins and go on a nighttime patrol with Nur. The torch probably won’t be the tool you feel most inclined to use in the game, as it’s the only one that can’t be upgraded and ismainly used as a light source for dark areasand clearing cobwebs.
It becomes beneficial in exploring areas like the secret unlock room beneath the water in the Northern Oasis, but it can also be effective against enemies. You have the ability to throw your torch, which can be a good distraction.

5Trap
The trap is an improvement over the torch when it comes down to practicality and effectiveness for stealth. While you might find better use with the noisemaker as a distraction tool, the trap distracts and incapacitates. Once you throw a trap down, an enemy will approach it to get knocked out by a cloud of green gas, which will allow an opportunity for an assassination.
While this tool has upgrade tiers, there aren’t as many that are exciting or much more useful as the ones for the rest below. You can increase the proximity of the gas and even turn it into a deadly explosive, but you may need to combo it with other tools to truly get the most out of it.

4Noisemaker
Making a surprise comeback in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the noisemaker distraction tool, which debuted in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations as the Cherry Bomb and was also in Arno’s toolkit in AC Unityduring the French Revolution. Though under a different name, it behaves pretty much the same.
It can come in handy when whistling isn’t the right tool for the job, and you want to get a group of guards together and potentially follow up with a smoke bomb attack or the shockwave ability from the Milad’s Outfit, and a noisemaker upgraded to its max will turn it into a shockwave as well. Maybe even luring more guards within the proximity of an environmental kill is another advantage you find with it.

3Blowdart
Blowdarts are an assassin’s staple across the games. While they were in Origins, the toolhasn’t been seen in either Odyssey or Valhalla, so it’s nice to have them back. They’re one of the most powerful tools in your toolkit, especially the more you upgrade them, giving them a longer duration of their effects and turning them into the beloved Berserker Darts.
The darts start out as a usual non-lethal tool, putting enemies to sleep for a limited amount of time, but do become lethal and poisonous. The Berserker Dart upgrade is the most helpful and the one you’ll most likely aim for, letting the enemies do the work for you by attacking each other.

2Throwing Knife
The classic throwing knives are still your best friends in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. You get them immediately after you begin your training in the Hidden Ones' fortress, Alamut Castle, and you’ll be using them a lot when it comes to the game’s stealth-heavy approaches.
Although you have Assassin’s Focus and the Chain Assassination instead of traditional double assassinations in this game, you can always count on these tools to instantly hit two guards next to each other. They’re also great for hitting oil jars to create explosions or drop crates hanging above enemies. With the upgrades and knife recovery skill unlocks, you’ll always collect them back, add poison damage, and have them be effective against armored foes.

1Smoke Bomb
The smoke bombs are an essential tool to have in combat and something you’ll want to unlock a slot for right away, and ensure to have one with you at all times. Like in all the past Assassin’s Creed games, throwing one of these will disorient all the enemies, make it harder for them to see, and allow you instant opportunities to work in the shadows and assassinate large crowds.
Smoke bombs will help you out of a pickle when you’re detected, especially with how tricky the combat is designed with dodging and parrying. Their look is also changed up to give a glamorous red smoke effect instead of the traditional white in previous games. You can also make them silent, allow Basim to heal inside the smoke(even more important since health doesn’t regenerate here), and turn them into incendiary devices.
