The creatures of thePikminseries ride a fine line between cute and grotesque in an endearing way that makes you, and Olimar by proxy, curious about the giant world around you. You are compelled to look in every nook and cranny to see what kind of creature you may find next.

While not every creature can’t win the cuteness contest, there are plenty that would make the running for the cutest enemy you don’t want to attack. Yes, they might eat you or poison you, but look at them! How could you hurt these monsters? Your favorite might not be down below, but they are deserving of your love regardless.
9Mamuta
One look at this lumbering creature and your mind would immediately think of a sentient pillow. Truth be told, you aren’t far from the truth.
These docile creatures won’t bother you until you show some animosity (and violence) and give you pause.Only then will they unleash their cuddly wrathand attempt to stomp you into the ground.

If you look closely at their arms, you’ll see a set of armbands that are unique to Mamutas only. It’s indicative of their possible sentient nature, which is all the more reason you should probably walk softly when finding one in the wild.
8Wollywogs
Wollywogs are an interesting species. They are based on real-life frogsbut are reminiscent of balloons due to their large, inflated appearance.
It’s easy to see why you would let down your guard when you see them, with their wide, innocent-looking eyes and tiny front hands holding up their bulbous bodies.

However, across the multiple games they are featured in, Wollywogs are widely known to be an outright menace with exceptional stomping power. So much power in fact, that they’ll send your Pikmin several inches away with his stomping wavelengths.
Though you may be tempted to cuddle it, it might be best to leave it alone.

7Crumbugs
Who wouldn’t want their piece of bread to greet them in the morning with a cute smile? Crumbugs are almost as harmlessas they are cute. These adorable loaves can be found in the 3DS game Hey! Pikmin in several places.
They are found with perpetual smiles on their faces and don’t have any attacks.

This doesn’t mean you and your Pikmin are safe from your doughy friends here. No, not at all. Crumbugs don’t have active attacks, but if they happen to run into Pikmin inside of its trajectory, you’ll have to be quick to save them from being eaten.
6Grub-dogs
The original poster boy and focus of the North American case, it’s natural to have this creature come to mind when thinking of Pikmin. Well, outside thePikmin and The Captainthemselves at least.
They’re pretty large, and their design is eye-catching, due to only being essentially a head with two tiny legs attached.

Grub-dogs have several variants that come in different sizes and colors depending on where you find them, but it’s not uncommon to have more than one type living in the same family. You’ll end up wanting to both cuddle them and run from them if you aren’t careful, but they probably don’t want to cuddle you back in return.
5Fiery Blowhog
While other enemies are cute for their big eyes and tiny legs, this Blowhog takes the minimalist approach in design. They have an all-white body with a few simple seams holding it together.
Similar to the Watery Blowhog, you can differentiate between the two hogs by the color of their snout.

Speaking of the snout, you may’t deny that its snout looks as though it was trying to kiss you on the cheek the way it’s puckered up as it is. If you were to try and get close, however, otherwise you andyour Pikmin will end up in flames.
4Toady Bloyster
Did you ever think you’d be calling a semi-sentient blob of goo cute? It’s not often people find the cute in such things, but the Toady Bloyster is here to defy all of your expectations on the matter. Just look at those blue, devoid eyes! Their color is cute and compliments their (somehow) pale purple, gooey flesh.

There’s something about the way the Bloyster jiggles that just makes you want to poke it with your finger. Not to hurt it or anything, but as a curiosity, Exorcise caution when coming close to the gelatinous wonder, it will most likely try to poison you and your Pikmin in self-defense.
3Red Spectralid
By all accounts, the Red Spectralid is the only creature on this list that isn’t a hostile enemy and will not attack you, but will instead try and fly away with its life and secret drop of Ultra-Spicy Nectar they’ve hidden away for a rainy day. It’s almost a shame you’ll have to take a few out to get that nectar though.
The Red Spectralid comes complete with large, beautiful wings, a furry moth-like body, and complete with googly eyes to plead for their life with! How could you not look at these cuties and immediately wish you could befriend them for all the Captain’s continuing adventures?

2Downy Snagrets
Usually, when thinking of baby birds (looking at you, swans) it’s pretty easy to see how they’ve gotten the reputation of being…less than cute when they are so small. Having giant, heavy-looking heads with tiny webbed feet gave them the short end of the stick pre-puberty.
The Downy Snagrets buck tradition by being the cutest chick you just want to put in your pocket.

Of course, if you see several of these mini cuties lingering around in unhatched nectar eggs, then all of your alarms should be set to full blast, as their giant, thick-necked parents are never too far away from their children despite lingering underground.
1Breadbugs
It’s a bug that looks like a fluffy loaf of bread, what more could you ask for? The Breadbug is a squishy ‘friend’ that does no intended harm to you and your Pikmin, and all they want to do is burrow away inside their nest with no issues. Never mind they hold an integral part of your ship.
As mentioned, the breadbugs tend to have sticky…fingers? Feet? Anyway, they will steal both small and large objects away from you, stalling your progress. If you have some Pikmin in the general vicinity as the breadbugs try and burrow, then you will accidentally lose some Pikmin with its burrowing process.
