Too many people slept on Sleeping Dogs, as it’s a very underrated open-world game. It has an engaging story revolving around Hong Kong police officer Wei Shen as he attempts to infiltrate the Triads.
The story is good, but what is even better is the fluid beat ‘em up combat. Shen is an expert in martial arts, which you use to great effect throughout the game. That is when you’re not driving around beautiful Hong Kong or playing one of the fun side activities.
8God Of War 3
The most recentGod of Wargames are more grounded than the earlier ones and put extra focus on storytelling. Therefore, God of War 3 is quite a bit different from recent releases, as it’s mostly about over-the-top action and outrageous hack-and-slash battles.

Outside of the serious story scenes, the game is an exciting third-person shooter where you make use of cover and bullet time to get the better of your foes.

Your character ends up there and soon wants to escape. To do so, you have to blast through all the deadly creatures in your way. Thankfully, you have a slew of traditional weapons and some creative abilities that can take down anyone.
Set in the Old West,Red Dead Redemptionfollows the exciting adventures of former outlaw John Marston. He is forced to hunt down his old running buddies. Only once he accomplishes this will he be able to see his family again.
So, the stakes are high, but you still have time to explore the beautiful open world and complete interesting side missions. Whether you’re focusing on the main story or side quests, you will get involved in plenty of fun third-person gunfights.
3Batman: Arkham City
There aremany wonderful Batman games, but few are better thanBatman: Arkham City. In this one, a section of Gotham City is turned into a super prison for the most dastardly criminals. Batman also finds himself trapped in there and he intends to find out what the prison’s warden, Hugo Strange, is really up to.
He attempts to do so in classic Batman fashion, as he investigates things, does a bit of sneaking around, and beats up a lot of thugs. The battles with those thugs as well as major bosses is where the action really ramps up. And the combat system is one of the most enjoyable and fluid in gaming history.
2Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
ThroughoutUncharted 2, there are many moments where it feels like you’re playing a Hollywood action movie. After all, there are plenty of high-octane set-pieces involving an abundance of explosions and gunfire.
This is because things are never easy for witty protagonist Nathan Drake. On this adventure, he searches for the prized jewel known as the Cintamani Stone and the spiritual paradise called Shambhala. Yet, he’s not the only one looking for them. So, you participate in plenty of thrilling cover-based third-person battles against the antagonist’s men.
1Grand Theft Auto 5
While the game has been released on more recent systems,Grand Theft Auto 5originally launched on the PS3 and Xbox 360 to plenty of deserved praise. The story revolves around three criminals operating in San Andreas. They all have separate lives, but they come together to pull off heists and attempt to get the government off their backs.
The gameplay in this open-world adventure revolves around slick third-person shooting and solid driving mechanics. Both of these things come into play when completing the entertaining main missions and compelling side content.
