Summary
TheResident Evilseries has more main characters than most. This is because most entries contain more than one protagonist. Typically, the games revolve around a pair of heroes.

This began in the original title with Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine. Then it continued with Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield and has since become a staple of the series - even if the more recent titles have moved away from it a bit. A result of this is that there are a lot of dynamic duos in the series now. However, the following ones are the most interesting and iconic of the bunch.
8Jake Muller And Sherry Birkin
Resident Evil 6 has three sets of protagonist duos - not including Ada Wong and the nameless agent. The best of them is Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin. On the surface, they seem like polar opposites, as Sherry is the by-the-book federal agent, while Jake is a free-spited mercenary.
Yet, they actually share some major similarities. For starters, they aren’t regular humans, as they have inhuman abilities. Plus, both their fathers are amongthe biggest villains in the Resident Evil series. These things mean they’re pretty much the only ones who can understand each other, which creates a strong bond.

7Ethan And Mia Winters
Many Resident Evil duos flirt a lot, and there are typically hints of a romantic interest between them. However, Capcom rarely confirms their relationship status. Therefore, Ethan and Mia are a rarity, as they’re an actual couple.

They don’t get many happy times together as genetic monsters like Eveline and Mother Miranda continually put them through hell. This only goes to show their love for one another, though, as Ethan is willing to dive headfirst into these terrible situations for Mia and their daughter, Rose. Mia doesn’t get much opportunity to repay him, but it’s clear she feels strongly about him, too.
6Jill Valentine And Barry Burton
The Chris and Jill duo gained fame after the original Resident Evil game. Yet, those two don’t spend much time together in that title. Jill spends much more time with Barry Burton. He serves as her guide and protector for much of the experience.
Unlike most men and women team-ups in the series, there is no romantic tension between the pair. It’s more of an older brother and younger sister dynamic, which makes it feel unique. And they’re able to stick together despite Wesker’s meddling.

5Jill Valentine And Carlos Oliveira
By the start of Resident Evil 3, Jill hates everything and everyone related to the Umbrella Corporation. So, her relationship with Umbrella operative Carlos Oliveira doesn’t get off to a great start. However, during their life-threatening escapades in Raccoon City, the two grow closer.
It helps that they save each other’s lives on multiple occasions. On top of that, Carlos begins to understand why Jill hates his employers, which strengthens their bond. This growth makes it a compelling relationship, while their constant quips back and forth make it a funny one.

4Leon Kennedy And Ada Wong
There are manymysteries in the Resident Evil series, and several of them revolve around Ada Wong. After all, the woman is very mysterious and morally ambiguous. Leon doesn’t share that same description. He is a lot more straightforward, as he’s a pure-hearted action hero.
These differing personalities is what makes the Leon and Ada duo so interesting. They’re like Batman and Catwomen. They’re so different and are often fighting on opposite sides, but there is a connection between them. And while neither of them is likely to say it openly in conversation, the two really like one another. This whole dynamic is what makes them a great pair.

3Rebecca Chambers And Billy Coen
Sometimes deadly zombies can bring people together, which is the case for Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen in Resident Evil 0. Billy is a death-row inmate that escapes captivity when his transport bus gets knocked over by infected creatures. When STARS member Rebecca finds him, she still intends to bring him in.

But by this point, they’re amid a zombie outbreak, so they’re forced to work together instead. This uneasy alliance eventually turns into a true friendship, especially once Rebecca learns the true story of how Billy ended up on death row. They make for an entertaining duo.
2Chris Redfield And Jill Valentine
The original and one of the most iconic duos in the series is Chris and Jill. They aren’t on screen together much in the original game, but they team up in RE5’s Lost In Nightmares DLC and in Resident Evil Revelations. So, the two don’t just have an off-screen partnership.
In the games, the two generally attempt to look after one another, and both of them save each other a lot. During their escapades, there are hints that their relationship is of a romantic nature, but it has never been truly confirmed. They’re simply like-minded individuals who care deeply for one another.

1Leon Kennedy And Claire Redfield
In Resident Evil 2, Leon and Claire are both unlucky enough to accidentally put themselves in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Leon does so as he’s attempting to start his job as a Raccoon City police officer, while Claire travels to the zombie-infested city looking for her brother.
This is the setup for one ofthe best zombie games ever. It’s also the start of a great duo in Leon and Claire, as both protagonists need to lean on one another to save themselves from being zombie chow. They spend most of the adventure apart, but any time they’re together, it’s clear they have a great rapport and bond.
