Guild Wars 2has been around since 2012 (I know, we can’t believe it either), which leaves lots of time for players to get creative. MMO players are some of the most intense and creative players of all, so it should be no surprise that there are lots of wonderful addons for Guild Wars 2 that can improve your gaming experience.

Everyone is looking for something different in an addon based on their priorities in-game. Some addons will adjust the graphics. Others will help you keep track of all the events constantly going on, or the world bosses that spawn every few hours. Still others can help you analyze your combat performance to ensure you’redoing as much to help your party as possible. Whatever kind of player you are, we think you’ll find something to help you out here!
5TacO
TheTacOaddon is an old reliable tool for many Guild Wars 2 players. It’s been around for almost as long as Guild Wars 2 has and serves as amuch-needed upgrade to your HUD.
TacO doesn’t change the game functionally, justplaces an overlay on top to help you outwith things that Guild Wars 2 doesn’t guide you through naturally. For example, it can help you figure out where to jump during a Jumping Puzzle. Or, it can lead you to Bandit Chests in the Silverwastes. It does these sorts of things by adding markers in-game, much like the way that the game guides you to your next main quest objective.
Keep in mind that TacO isopen-source, so there’s the official version, but you can also find alternatives. Other players have tweaked TacO and released their own version (referred to as a TacO “package”). TheReactifandTekkit’s Workshopversions are well-known, for example.
4ArcDPS
Are you concerned that you’re notliving up to your full potential?you may practice your DPS rotation or your buff timing for forever and a day, but it’s hard to be sure you’re improving without concrete numbers to back you up.
Enter:ArcDPS. This tool monitors you when you play (in a non-creepy way, we promise) andtells you tons of useful information about your combat performance.It can detail outgoing and incoming damage, for example, or the boons that were active. It doesn’t just work on you, either; you’ll see these excellent combat statistics for any member of your party or squad. You’ll find this especially useful ifyou play a class that can deal a lot of DPS, like Ranger.

3GW2Radial
TheGW2Radialaddon does exactly what it sounds like: it adds radial menus to the game! Three radial menus areprebuiltinto the addon:mounts, novelties, and markers.However, it also comes with the ability to customize your own radial menus however you choose. It’s pretty easy to use, too, thanks to detailed instructions alongside the files on GitHub.

Most peoplelove GW2Radial for the mount menu.In vanilla Guild Wars 2, youcan only have one mount selected at a time. When you hit the assigned key, you’ll climb onto that selected mount. To change it is a tedious process of hitting a small arrow and choosing the correct alternative. It’s extra annoying because each mount is built to take on a different task (Skimmers float above the water or swim through it, for example), so you’re often switching between them. With this addon, all that annoyance is gone.
2Gw2Hook
Gw2Hookisa popular graphics addonfor Guild Wars 2. Make sure you have a computer that can handle it before you install it. Basically, Gw2Hook lets you remove fog from areas and then add shaders to adjust the look of the world in-game.
There are shaders and a preset built-in, but you can also create your own preset or add a new one. If you want touse a particular preset in one map but not another, there’s functionality to set that up. You can even use the shaders from ReShade FX bydownloading them here.
1Blish HUD
TheBlish HUDis, like TacO, anoverlay for the game.The major difference between Blish and TacO is that TacO has functionality built-in. Blish, on the other hand, is basically just like setting up a picture frame with no picture in it; there’s no functionality unless you install the modules. Most people eventually choose one or the other, and everyone who’s in the know has their preference. Sometimes it just boils down to what you’re familiar with or what’s easiest to install.
The benefit of Blish HUD is that it hasa lot of different addons for the game rolled into onepackage! The radial-mount menu we detailed above, for example, is included here. There’s also a fishing helper, a character menu, a screenshot manager, an achievement tracker, and more! You can read the full list of modules on the website.
