The worlds of RPGs are incredibly diverse. You’ll explore beautiful fantasy forests, the edges offar-flung galaxies, and horrid underground lairs while on the various quests these games send you on. Knowing that you’ll face many perils and horrifying creatures, you’ll want to protect yourself the best you’re able to.

True enough, the armor you’re able to find while out adventuring in RPGs is just as varied as the games themselves. But, while you’ll surely find plenty of protective gear, you’re also sure to find some weird armor while you’re out there too. But, which of these collective armors is the weirdest of them all?
8Falmer Armor - Skyrim
The Falmer ofSkyrimare an odd and deadly group, but they’ve adapted their lives to accommodate their new underground homes. Their weapons and armor especially. You can loot this armor from many of the Falmer you defeat on their travels.
It is made up mostly of the chitinous pieces of the Chaurus that also live in the many caves of Skyrim. Wearing armor made of bugs is weird enough, but wearing their helmet makes it even weirder. The Falmer being blind, it makes sense for the faceplate of their helms to cover their eyes. Not when you wear it, though.

7Doom Fang Pauldron - Destiny 2
There’s plenty of over-the-top armor inDestiny 2. But, as humanity’s last hope, it only makes sense that you should be able to show off a bit.

The Doom Fang Pauldrons are a good mix of style and weird. The glowing purple horns are apparently just for show, but they do make a statement. It only gets weirder when you consider that Doom Fang Pauldrons is a bit of an argued-about name for this piece of armor. Where did they come from? What do other guardians call them?
6Diamond City Guard Armor - Fallout
The world ofFalloutis a ruthless one. Those who live in it have to do anything they can to eke out an existence. But, it’s also a weird world.
With these combined, it makes sense that things like the Diamond City Guard Armor exists. It doesn’t take long at all to realize it’s just catcher pads from the locker rooms of Diamond City. Sure, it probably would give the wearers some protection, but not nearly enough in such a rough world. Plus, thy look kind of ridiculous.

5Verchitin Armor - Wasteland 3
TheWastelandseries has never apologized for being as weird as it can possibly be. In fact, it owns up to it quite often. While not the weirdest thing, the Verchitin Armor isn’t exactly the most normal either.
It looks like pieces of some sort of alien or large bug, the helmet especially thanks to the eyes on it. The description of the items though says there is a military serial number on it. No one knows what exactly that means, but it’s nothing good.

4Desert Sorceress Set - Dark Souls 2
Granted, it may be hot in the desert, but that still doesn’t fully explain how little the Desert Sorceress armor covers inDark Souls 2.
The description of the item says these simple robes are infused with powerful magics, and that may be, but it still just looks more like a swimsuit than anything you’d want to wear into battle. While this isn’t the most horrific use of ‘bikini armor’ anyone has seen in a game, it still makes you wonder why it was an option.

3Chocobo Suit - Final Fantasy
The cute yet mighty chocobo has been a constant companion throughout theFinal Fantasyseries, so it’s only fair that it should be immortalized as an armor set too.

Whether you want to live out your dreams of being a chocobo, or you just think Final Fantasy needs a bit more humor in it, you too can don the feathery yellow armor and bring ruin to anyone who gets in your way. It may not be the strongest armor, but it definitely makes a statement. What that statement is? Who’s to say.
2Xanthous Crown - Dark Souls 3
The soulsborne genre of games has never been one to shy away from the weird. Although, arguably one of the weirdest armors in the genre comes up inDark Souls 3.
The Xanthous Crown, while saying its fit for a king, doesn’t really seem like it when you see it. The large snake-like wrap of bandages that enwrap your character’s head may be striking but more in an odd way than in a royal way. It’s a piece of armor that stands out on its own, that’s to be sure. You’d think it would just get in the way though.

1Jar Helm - Elden Ring
There are plenty of odd things going on inElden Ring’s Lands Between. One weird thing that might be overlooked though is the jar helm. Wearing a jar with no eye holes on your head is silly and maybe unwise, but not quite weird.
That is, until you meet the living jars that callThe Lands Betweenhome. Does that mean this jar on your head was once full of the meat that makes up these jars' innards? That’s not only weird, but plenty gross too.
