The developers ofHonkai: Star Railare constantly using the formula of launching permanent game modes with limited rewards. Most of the valuable rewards you’re able to get in these events are time-limited, but the modes themselves stay in the game forever, so even the newer players can play them at any point.
Aetherium Wars is one such event, and it was launched along with the Version 1.4 update. In Aetherium Wars, you can unlock various Aether Spirits and use them in battle. However, it’s important to know the most valuable Spirits if you want to win against difficult opponents.

9Voidranger: Eliminator
Voidranger: Eliminator is an attack-type Aether Spirit that excels at taking multiple turns and dealing multiple instances of damage to the enemies at the same time. It’s an Aberrant Spirit, making it perfect against Humanoid enemies. However, there are a few downsides to using this unit.
Whenever you use its Skill, it deals multiple instances of damage to two enemies. Moreover, the Ultimate also allows you to instantly get an extra turn two times after using your next Basic Attack or Skill. Unfortunately, its weapon can overheat if you attack too many times without defeating an enemy, which leads to its health being reduced by 90 percent.

8Automaton Spider
As you’d guess from playing against thisenemy in the open world, this Spirit has a sacrificing-type gameplay where it makes itself explode to deal heavy damage to the enemies. Being a Mechanical unit, it’s great to remove the smaller Aberrant targets from the battlefield.
Using its Skill takes away 45 percent of its HP to increase your SPD massively, and this doesn’t end its turn. Moreover, the Spider’s Talent also increases its DMG whenever it loses health. Ideally, you’d want to decrease its health down to one before using your Ultimate to deal the most damage.

7Entranced Ingenium: Obedient Dracolion
If we’re talking about units that lose their HP just by using their abilities, it’s important to mention a unit that can heal them back up. The Obedient Dracolion is one such unit, and it reduces its own HP to heal a target ally. However, it also has a Talent that prevents it from going down to a fatal attack.
Instead of getting knocked down, the unit restores 60 percent of its HP and deals massive damage to the enemy who tried to knock it down. You only have one stack of this revive, but you’re able to get the stack again by using its Ultimate, so it’s important to save the Ultimate until the revive is triggered.

6Aurumaton Gatekeeper
The Aurumaton Gatekeeper is an Overlord Mechanical-type unit, which means that you cannot use it with other Overlord units in a team. This robot is great atdelaying the enemy’s actions, which means that it’s the perfect counter to Voidranger: Trampler. However, the best part about this unit is its Talent.
When your Ultimate is triggered, the Aurumaton spawns two Illumination Dragonfish to the field. These enemies have a set SPD and deal follow-up DMG on their turn that also applies a random DoT to the target. Moreover, their own Basic Attack deals much higher damage after using the Ultimate.

5Vagrant
Vagrant can be considered the Bronya of Aether Spirits. This Humanoid unit can use their Skill on an ally to give them a turn instantly, which can be phenomenal for certain Overlord allies who need to get their Ultimate quickly. It also delays the target’s action whenever the Basic Attack is used on them.
Moreover, if Vagrant gets attacked by an enemy, the DMG taken is reduced by 20 percent and their movement is advanced forward by the same amount. With the ATK increase from their Ultimate, Vagrant can single-handedly support your team to victory.

4Silvermane Lieutenant
The Silvermane Lieutenant is another Overlord-type unit in Aetherium Wars, and they deserve a mention while talking about the best Aether Spirits. However, their abilities aren’t similar to their open-world counterpart at all. Instead, both their Skill and Ultimate create a shield for single or all allies respectively.
Whenever an ally with a shield is attacked (even if the shield isn’t created by the Lieutenant), this unit launches a follow-up attack that deals a ton of damage. This is a great Aether Spirit for both protecting their allies and defeating the enemies.

3Voidranger: Trampler
As the saying goes, the best defense is a good offense. Voidranger: Trampler is an Overlord Aberrant-type unit, and it’s likely the best unit to end the battle as quickly as possible. This is because of its Talent that allows it to take immediate action whenever an ally or an enemy goes down.
This is supported by its Skill that deals massive damage to a single enemy and can instantly defeat a low or medium-health enemy. As long as you have a bit of sustainability on your team, this unit will carry you in battle against all enemies except the Mechanical type.

2Silvermane Cannoneer
Silvermane Cannoneer being ranked second on this list even though it’s not an Overlord unit already says a lot about it. They can apply their Ultimate on an ally to increase their ATK and give them up to two Energy for their Ultimate, which is more than half of the cost for most Overlord and normal enemies.
Apart from that, their Skill also allows the Cannoneer to launch a follow-up attack whenever the target ally attacks. This makes them quite broken when paired with Spirits like the Overlords mentioned in the list.

1Warp Trotter
Warp Trotter is one of the first units you get in Aetherium Wars, and it’s undeniably the best and the cutest support Spirit in the game. In its normal form, it can deal DMG to all enemies with its Basic Attack and heal all its allies with the Skill. However, it truly starts shining when you use the Ultimate.
After the Ultimate, you can only use their Basic Attack, but this attack deals damage to the enemies, heals its allies, and increases the DMG of their next attack, all at the same time. The Trotter’s Talent also increases its allies' ATK, making it a perfect skill set.
