Blasphemous 2takes great strides to correct the weaknesses of its predecessor and puts a great deal of effort into making its combat system an enjoyable (yet difficult) experience. This is accomplished mostly through giving you, the player, plenty of options to experiment with.

In addition to three separate weapons to use and enjoy, you also have quick verses and chants. Think of these as your spells - supplementary abilities that you’re able to use to deal damage and protect yourself. While they all have their uses, some will be more useful than others.
10Mirabras Of The Return To Port
While this chant doesn’t do much in the way of providing damage or protection, it is likely to be one of your most used and reliable chants in the game. The effect is simple: to consume a little bit of fervor and return you instantly to the City of the Blessed Name.
There are many situations in Blasphemous 2 where this is incredibly useful. While you’re never all that far away from a Prie Dieu or teleporter room, you’ll be doing a lot of traveling around the map if you want to complete the various side quests, and having a quick return-to-home spell is a lifesaver.

9Martinete Of Forge And Thunder
While the quick verses of the game tend to be easily spammed attacks that you can rely on for consistent damage, the Martinete of Forge and Thunder also has some utility aspects in that its high arc can be used to damage things high in the air. This is incredibly useful when dealing with airborne enemies and out-of-reach floating babies.
You’ll find this verse most useful ina build that focuses on Sarmiento & Centella, taking advantage of the Tempest Altarpiece and the weapon’s Galvanic Striker passive ability. These will boost the verse’s damage output significantly.

8Peteneras To The Burial Of The Lights
While this is the first chant that you will be given in Blasphemous 2, it is by no means the weakest. In fact, it can be a surprisingly viable damage option even in the late-game. This chant produces a line of fireballs along the ground in front of you, with considerable range.

While there will be some enemies and bosses that wall this attack effectively thanks to a resistance to fire damage, it’s worth keeping in mind for enemies where it works wonders. For example, the stationary giants, who can’t really escape the flames, or the charging bells, who will charge right into the damage zone.
7Liviana Of The Blighted Blades
Many of the chants and verses in Blasphemous 2 require that you get up close and personal with your foes - or, at the very least, medium-range and slightly personal. Not so with Liviana of the Blighted Blades. This verse is a speedy burst of arrows that fly from your location at the nearest enemies.
The damage isn’t exactly anything to write home about, but the fact that you can use it to attack enemies without getting into their threat range makes it a wonderful fight opener. It also finds great use cases in areas with lots of flying enemies, as the attack’s homing effects neuter their aerial advantage handily.

6Zejel Of The Cruelest Thorn
While this verse doesn’t exactly have the best damage output (even if you make an Altarpiece build that focuses on blight damage), its existence as a cheap and quick defensive ability makes it stand out amongst the other quick verses.
You’ll have to be smart about using this ability, as it’s quite possible to run into issues if you come up against enemies who can bypass the staggering effect of damage or those with ranged attacks, but it can be a crucial tool to have in a pinch.

5Bleeding Miracle
Despite its basic name and simple effect, the Bleeding Miracle is a powerful addition to your arsenal. Not only is it rather cheap, but its linear trajectory and boomerang effect make it a highly-useable attack.

It’s basically a less-situational version of Peteneras to the Burial of the Lights and costs less fervor to use. Mystical damage is a bit of a wildcard when it comes to which enemies are resistant to it, but with those who find themselves weak, you’re able to shave their health down to nothing in just a few casts, given some clever and strategic positioning.
4Aubade To The Sleepless Iron
The world of Cvstodia is a lonely place. You have precisely one ally who can join you in fights throughout the entire game, and she’s only around for a few of them. This chant, however, will let you summon a temporary ghostly soldier who will teleport around the screen and make a thrusting attack at a nearby foe.
The guardian’s damage is good, it has reliable accuracy, and it sticks around for a decent amount of time. This makes Aubade to the Sleepless Iron a good chant to use both for tricky arena fights and for boss fights - as long as they aren’t resistant to the guardian’s attacks.

3Debla Of The Lights
Is there anything more ominous than a pillar of light? Well with Debla of the Lights, you can summon a gigantic one and deal a huge amount of damage to any enemy who dares wander inside. This is a costly chant that requires a great deal of fervor, but its damage output makes it a worthy choice in most cases.
This chant is particularly useful when considering certain bosses, particularlythose who are very mobile, and make it hard for you to attack them. If you cast this during an opening, you’ll deal a lot more damage than two hits with Veredicto or a flurry of Sarmiento & Centella attacks.

2Chime Of The Twisted One
When you first get this chant, it is not likely to be a powerful one. This is because there is an interesting mechanic that interacts with this chant - its power will improve as youfind more Hidden Symbols around the map. You have to use this chant to actually reveal the aforementioned symbols, so their link isn’t too difficult to uncover.
There are ten in total, and finding them all will turn the Chime of the Twisted One into one of the most powerful single attacks in the game. Once you find all the Hidden Symbols, however, the chant becomes even more powerful and hits three times in total.

1Seguiriya To The Memory Of Your Eyes
This chant isthe reward for possibly the lengthiest side quest in the entire game, and as a result, it is incredibly powerful. Seguiriya to the Memory of your Eyes has one effect, which is to stop time entirely for everything except the Penitent One. This means you can attack enemies, get out of damage zones, and deal a fair amount of damage without worrying about reprisals.
The only drawback is the chant’s exorbitant fervor cost, so you’ll want to be running a fervor-maximizing build if you want to get lots of use out of it. Thanks to the sheer power of a time stop, though, we can’t help but have it topping the chart.
