Keep Up With Your Tool Upgrades

Your introduction totool upgrades in Fae Farmcomes fairly early on, with the Mayor giving you your starter tools the day you arrive, and Cleo teaching you how to upgrade them immediately after the tutorial chapters.

Though it may seem expensive at first, you’ll do well tokeep your tools upgradedas you play. Onlytwo upgrades are available in the earliest daysof the game, but you’ll feel the need for better ones before you hit Floor 25 for the main story.

Naturally with games like this, ore and rocks are stronger the deeper you go inthe various dungeonMines, so what works on the earliest levels will be pretty inefficient by the end of the dungeon.

But it doesn’t start and endwith the dungeons- there areresources you can only farm with certain tools, too. Oak trees, oak logs, sugarcane, and more are all too strong for your starter tools, meaning you can’t properly clear the Homestead without at least one upgrade.

Additionally, upgraded tools offer spells that cover multiple spaces at once. The first upgrade to copper tools, for example, lets you water, mine, or chop a7x7 areain a single hit (in exchange formana).

Between farming, dungeon-crawling, and resource-hunting, you’ll want that extra power before long! Youcan’t skip upgrades, so be sure to keep checking in withCinderthe Blacksmith to see what you can upgrade as you unlock new materials.

Whether you’rerearrangingthe Homestead or trying forhybrid plants, farming sim veterans will be delighted to know that in Fae Farm, no longer do you have to ruin a plant to dig it up if you place it in the wrong spot!

In Fae Farm, you canmoveplanted cropsaround within Crop Beds or Flower Beds, even after they’ve already been planted.

To do so, simply access thebuilding menuwhile out in your yard, and click the button shown on screen topick up and move a planted cropto a new garden plot.

They still need to be in the right kind of bed - crops in Crop Beds and Flowers in Flower Beds - but outside that, as long as there’s a Bed ready for a seed, it’s free territory for moving.

Your Storage Is Endless

Though most farming sims force you to rely on treasure chests to keep your goods organized back home, Fae Farm offers aHome Storagesystem instead.

Additionally, as you unlocknew areasof Azoria, you’ll unlocknew storage shedsfor your Home Storage. These areconnected to your Home Storage at the Homestead, so take advantage of being able to keep everything in multiple spots.

Use Teleporters To Move Around Town And Through Mines

As you wander through Azoria, you’ll notice the occasionalTeleporterfreckled around the world, butthey don’t work initially- you’ll need tounlock them with Seals.

To unlock the Teleporters around town, you’ll needspecial Sealsthat utilize the variousgemstonesfound in the Mines, fused withIron Seals.

All the ore required to unlock every Teleporters in Azoria are available from the Saltwater Mines.

Once you’ve gotmore than one Teleporter unlocked, you’re able to use them to beginfast-traveling between two pointsaround Azoria.

Additionally, you’ll need tomake use of Seals to get through dungeons. Your first exposure to this is early, in the Saltwater Mines, butunlocking a Teleporterwith the requisite Sealactivates that floor for fast travel.

Once unlocked, a floor remains unlocked, allowing you totravel between floors of the mine from any Teleporter- there will always be oneat the entrance to each floor.

Just beware that you’llneed to activate the Seals in order. If you stick a random one on Floor 13 without having Floor 12 unlocked, for example, it won’t work out.

Catch Everything That Sparkles

You’ll already be doing plenty ofFish andCritter Catchingthroughout your time in Fae Farm, but you should take note thatrare Fish and Critters sparkleto let you know they’re important.

The downside is that they’reoften harder to catchthan the regular Fish or Critters available at that time of year.

As such, be sure you’reupgrading yourFishing Rodand Netroutinely as you level up in their respective skills.Eddy and Melwill both have upgrades for you, which become available for purchasedbased on your skill level.

Once you’ve reached the right skill level and have saved enough Florins to get it, you can justbuy it outright.

Not only doesadvancing your skills make things easier to catchin Fae Farm, but you’ll also notice a markedincrease in your catching abilitiesas you upgrade.

The Critter in question will emit bothsparkles and a faint rainbow, so be sure you’re stopping to grab these - who knows when you’ll need them or their valuable resources?

Use Troughs To Feed Your Animals For Ten Days At Once

After you’ve begun adding Azoria’s creativespecies ofanimalsto your Homestead, they’ll have a coupledaily needsthat you’ll need to meet in order for them to survive and thrive. Unsurprisingly, your animalsneed to eat.

They’ll snack on thegrass in the farmyardif you’ve left them some, buteach animal has a feeding space inside the Coop/Barnthat you canfill with assorted grasses and fodders.

However, if doing this every day becomes too much, you can alwaysupgrade to a troughfor both the Coop and the Barn. Troughs allow you toput in ten pieces of grass/fodder per animal, allowing you to set it and forget it for a week and a half.

Just remember to pop in and check the feeder levels every now and again, lest they run out!

Romance Comes Surprisingly Easy

A hallmark of farming sims, it’s no surprise that you’reable to fall in love and get marriedin Fae Farm. But when it comes to the strong handful of eligible singles, you may be surprised at just how easily they fall back.

The romance candidates in Fae Farmseem to be limited only to romance meters, andtalking to a romance candidate offers hearts instead of friendship. Instead of watching yourself go from Acquaintances to Friends, you’ll instead go from Flirting to Interested, progressively getting more serious as time goes by.

The romance candidates willsend you an invitation in the mail when they’d like to go on a date, and you’ll be able to trigger it practically any time from then on.Dates are triggered manually, so you can decline the invitation by simply never triggering the date scene.

Even on dates, there are few ways to screw up, withno dialogue choicesto be made. You’ll see a cute image of your farmer and the apple of their eye after a short conversation, and the date will end.

Nobody seems to mind you flirting, though, so don’t worry about costing yourself that special someone because you’ve made them jealous.

Azoria Gets New Residents (And Singles) After Clearing The Whirlpools

By the time you reach the end of Chapter Three, you probably know Azoria and its residents pretty well by then - it’s not that huge a town, after all.

However, uponclearing the Whirlpoolsthat’ve kept travelers and merchants away from Azoria’s shores, ships once again return to the harbor, bringingnew friends and romance optionsto town.

Upon checking your map the day after clearing the Whirlpools, you’ll notice a handful of new faces.Nhamashal, Galan, Pepperare the two you’ll meet first, right atthe Mayor’s office.

Each one starts you with asimple ingredient fetch quest, and speaking with them allows you to get to know them better. As soon as they arrive, you can start flirting.

You’llcontinue to unlock new friendsas you work your way through the remaining regions of Azoria!

Make Hybrid Flowers Early For Additional Dye Colors

You’re introduced to the concept ofmaking hybrid flowersfairly early on into Fae Farm, and it’s easy to brush aside at first, butyou need hybrid flowers to unlock new color palettes.

The color palettes, sold by shopkeepers throughout Azoria and its surrounding regions that unlock with your story progression, arehow you get new colors for clothing or furniture.

Millie offers you two sets of three colors as a sample, but the remaining22 additional color triosare manual unlocks, and themajority of color palettes require hybrid flowersin a similar color to unlock.

The color flower you’ll need will always make sense with the colors you’re trying to unlock. For example, you need several pink trilliums to unlock the Vibrant Pink color palette from the Wisp Mother.

Some of them are exclusive tofestivals, others are simplysold in shops around townas soon as you have the Florins and materials to buy. Buy all that you’re able to for maximum decorating options!

Take Jobs From Azoria’s Residents To Be Rewarded For Things You’re Already Doing

Once you’ve cleared the Whirlpools swirling in Stay-A-While Bay, you’ll be able to begin taking onoddjobs from the local residentsof Azoriato earn some additional rewards for your work around town.

Plenty ofshopkeepershave jobs related to the items they sell at their stores (like Cinder the blacksmith asking for ores), while others come fromnotable residents in Azoria(like Drak the warrior asking you to defeat certain enemies).

This willrarely send you out of your wayif you’re keeping up with the jobs as you play through Fae Farm’s story. The jobs are fairly clearlydivided between regions of Azoria, so you won’t be able to continue working for one character until unlocking a new region or feature.

That said, these jobsreward you withcooked meals, various potions, and outfitsyou can’t get anywhere else, so be sure to take on some side work for the extra payout for little extra effort!

Youcanspeed-run the jobs after unlocking the entire map, but it involves quite a lot of backtracking to do. We found it easiest to tackle jobs as we tackled new regions.

Sell Everything You Can Spare…

It should come as no surprise in a farming sim game thatyou need quite a lot of cashto unlock everything in Fae Farm and progress through the game.

There are a number of ways to make money in Fae Farm, butselling any resources you may spareis a good way to earn an income passively while you’re off adventuring toward your next story events.

Items likemeals, potions, fish, ores, gemstones, and more fetch rather good prices whensold on your Produce Standsor in town, so be sure tounload your extras oftento see what your bonus loot is worth.

Go through your storage every now and againto clean it out and see what you’ve got in there collecting digital dust that may be worth a few Florins if you sell it!

With infinite storage, it’s easy to stash stuff and forget it, so check tabs like theAlchemy, Dungeon Seals, Refined Goods, and Cooking tabsfor anyhigh-value itemsyou may have left behind.

… But Save Some Resources For Later

When you’re first getting started in Fae Farm, you definitely want to bemaking Florins, but while it’s tempting to sell off all extras of your most valuable items, it’s best tohold onto a couple rough gems, ores, and their refined iterationslike ingots and polished gemstones.

While these items do sell for quite a lot, and they’re a great way to make money if you truly do have too much, you’ll needores andvarious lumber forhome improvements, and you may also wantrough and polished gems for furniture or color palettes.

Plenty of these things don’t become available until later in the game, though, sosave yourself the time backtrackingthrough dungeons you’ve already beaten looking for the same resources again.

Additionally, you’ll need progressivelymore materials, and tougher materials to findto continue your upgrades. If youprocess some things and leave some raw resourcesfor later, you’ll never be without what you need.
