Although you’re restricted to five positions, Superstar mode has many ways for you to customize your player to accommodate your desired play style. If you’re looking to make a name for yourself in the NFL, we break down the essential details of how you can be successful in Superstar.
Creating Your Superstar
Choosingyour Superstar position is the most important decisionyou’ll need to make. There are a total offive positions:Quarterback, Running Back, Wide Receiver, Linebacker, and Cornerback.
Whilereceivers might be some of the most excitingplayers in the NFL, it’s themost difficult offensive position to control. As a receiver, you’ll need to shake free of your defender and use the proper catch style to secure passes.
Running backs provide a nice blendof playing a unique offensive position who can affect the game on the ground or as a receiver.
For a moretraditional style of Madden, you should select Quarterback.
As the signal caller, you canchoose the playsand ultimately operate the offense. However, once you pass the ball or hand it off, youwon’t be able to control the offensive player.
Once you select a position, youwon’t be able to create another Superstar at that position. You will have to delete the initial player to create a new one. That means you can havefive total Superstarsat the various positions.
After you’ve picked your position, you’ll need to adjust your body metrics. By adjusting your height and weight,you can change what type of player you are.
Once you’ve finished creating your Superstar, it’s time to begin your NFL journey inThe League. You can alsocompete against other Superstars in Showdownand earn exclusive rewards and accelerated XP bonuses in this mode.
Entering The League
Before you officially start your NFL journey, you do have the option to choose which team you want to play for, butwe recommend letting the game send you to a team based on your draft stock.
After listening to the Madden analysts break down your Superstar, it’s time for the NFL Combine. Most of the drills will be the same for every position, butthe final drill will bespecific to your position.
The game will have a range of where it expects you to finish, impacting your draft standing.
Description
Bench Press
For this drill, you’ll need to use the analog sticks to push the bar and then rapidly press the shoulder buttons to regain your stamina.
40-Yard Dash
Press down on the analog sticks to get in the ready position and then alternate with the back trigger buttons. Once you reach the end, you’ll press X (or A on Xbox) to Dig Deep before you cross the finish line to shave off time.
Broad Jump
Build up power by rapidly pressing X (or A) and then launch yourself with the analog stick in the specified direction.
20-Yard Shuttle
Run by rapidly pressing the surfaced button prompt and cut with a flick of the analog stick by matching the directional arrow.
After you complete the Combine drills, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in theCombine interview.
This isoptional,butanswering the questions correctly canpositively impact your draft stock. However, answering incorrectly will negatively impact your draft stock.
Upgrade Your Superstar
Following the Combine, you’ll earn yourfirst set of rewards. Use the Skill Points to upgrade your Superstar.
When you select the category you want to upgrade, you’ll see how that will impact your overall rating and can use that to decide howto upgrade your player.
Besides the Skill Points, you’ll also unlock the X-Factor slot. However, you won’t be able to assign an ability just yet.
As your Superstar continues to improve, you will unlockfive other ability slots that range from Bronze to Gold. You will also havetwo Showdown Ability slotsthat can be unlocked by competing in Showdown, but these abilitiesonly impact your Superstar in Showdown.
Similar to the Field Pass in Ultimate Team,Superstar mode has theLevel Paththat shows you what rewards you will unlock as you earn XP throughout the game mode. Rewards consist ofSkill Points, Ability Slots, and attribute boosts.
Focus on completing the Gameday Missions to earn additional XP and other rewards toward improving your Superstar.
Once you’re drafted, you’ll sign your NFL contract. The contract value impactshow much CRED and XP you will receive after each game. XP is used to upgrade your Superstar, and CRED lets you customize the appearance of them.
