Penances are short- to long-term challenges that players can complete inWarhammer 40,000: Darktide.They can be earned by simply playing the game, or by devoting your time to a particular class or trying specific challenges while fighting for your life in the depths of Hive Atoma.
In addition to the cosmetics that become unlocked from completing Penances, each of these mini-challenges adds to your overall score. Some Penances are worth more Penance Points than others, and many grant points but no cosmetics. Once you’ve gone through all the trouble of earning them, what are Penance Points for?

How To Check Your Penances In Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
you may always see your Penances - both completed and in-progress - from the menu while you’re on board the Mourningstar. You can alsoread the book near the entrance to the Mission Hub, but this takes you to the same screen so it’s usually easier to just go from the menu.
Penances are sorted by category, from general gameplay feats to challenges dealing with specific enemies and more. Each class also has their own set of Penances that will require mastery of that character’s abilities in order to earn.

At the bottom of the categories list areRedacted Penances, which allow you to earn additional cosmetics and Penance Points. These tend to be much more difficult than regular Penances!
What Do Penance Points Do?
you’re able to see your current Penance Pointswreathed in laurels at the top-left of the Penances window.As much fun as it is to see the number go up,Penance Points don’t have any in-game effect.They’re merely a measure of how much you’ve played the game and whether you’ve gone out of your way to complete as many challenges as possible. This makes them great forengaging in friendly competition with your friendsto see who can rack up the most!
