Much like theFive Nights at Freddy’sseries in general, many secrets are hiding in the dark, spooky depths of Security Breach’s Ruin DLC. However, out of all the mysteries lurking in the shadows of the abandoned Pizzaplex, one has been perplexing fans since the DLC launched: which FNAF Ruin ending is canon?
There are three endings in FNAF Ruin, each containing a different fate for the brave protagonist Cassie and the nightmare-inducing animatronic known as The Mimic. What happened to Cassie? Will she still be alive in the next FNAF game? Or did she meet her gruesome fate at the metallic claws of The Mimic? Only the canon ending reveals the answer.

Updated May 13, 2025 by PJ Molloy:Five Nights at Freddy’s Help Wanted 2 is out, and its endings provide plenty of clues, cameos, and references that help unravel FNAF Ruin’s mysterious lore. But how do these new hints help decipher which FNAF Ruin ending is canon?
Which Security Breach Ending Does FNAF Ruin Follow?
There are several clues scattered throughout FNAF Ruin that shine a light on which ofSecurity Breach’s six endingsis canon. Knowing which ending Ruin follows provides a vital hint as to which of its own endings is canon.
As Cassie explores the decayed ruins of Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex, it becomes apparent that some familiar faces are suspiciously missing. While she encounters most of Security Breach’s animatronics during her adventure,Glamrock Freddy and Vanessa are nowhere to be found.

In addition, the shocking twist at the end of the story reveals thatGregory is not even in the Pizzaplex, and the person you’ve been communicating with is actually The Mimic.
From this, it can be inferred thatFNAF Ruin takes place after Security Breach’s Princess Quest ending- the only outcome where Gregory, Freddy, and Vanessa escape the building.

Further proof can be found in FNAF Ruin’s secret ending. While being chased by The Mimic, if you ignore Gregory’s instructions and go left instead of right, you run into a dead end with a cardboard cutout of Fredbear.
If you put on the Security Mask, you see a vision of Gregory, Helpi, and Vanessasitting in a grassy field while eating ice cream, verifying that they’ve escaped the Pizzaplex.

This confirms thatthe Princess Quest ending is Security Breach’s canon ending. The question now becomes: which FNAF Ruin ending follows the continuity of the Princess Quest route?
FNAF Ruin’s bad ending, also known as the elevator ending, happens when you follow Gregory’s instructions during the final chase sequence.

When you enter the elevator,Gregory’s voice comes through the Pizzaplex’s PA system, saying he can’t risk being followed by the Mimic. Before Cassie can ask for answers, the elevator plummets down the shaft.
Since Gregory has escaped the Pizzaplex at this point in the timeline, the bad ending begs the question: how is he able to use the building’s PA system? Also, how is he able to control the elevator?

Through his actions, it becomes clear thatGregory is still in the Pizzaplex during the bad ending, which means this outcome does not continue from Security Breach’s canon ending.
Even though it’s arguably the scariest path in the DLC, given the evidence, it’s safe to say thatFNAF Ruin’s bad ending is not canon. This leaves only two potential candidates.

What Is The Difference Between The Secret Ending And Good Ending?
On the surface, all three endings appear to have a similar outcome. Whether Cassie falls down the elevator shaft, is chased into a dead end by The Mimic, or succeeds in defeating the animatronic, one thing remains constant:Cassie’s fate is unknown in all three endings. However, if you look closer, you’ll notice there’s more to it than that.
Taking another glance at the bad ending, when Cassie falls down the elevator shaft, it’s safe to assume that she died upon hitting the ground. After all, what human could survive a fall like that? Similarly, the secret endingappears to have a grim outcome for her.
While it’s unclear what happens after Cassie hits a dead end, her fate is heavily implied by the context of the situation. Even though the camera doesn’t show it, The Mimic is still right behind her. Given that she’s cornered with no way to get around the animatronic,it’s doubtful that she survives this scenario.
If you need more proof, a clue to Cassie’s fate can be found in the Five Nights at Freddy’s books. According to the novel Tales From The Pizzaplex #6: Nexie, The Mimic is conditioned to be exceedingly violent and brutally murders anyone it sets its eyes on.
With this information, it can be inferred thatCassie meets a very messy demise in the secret ending.
Of all three endings, only one leads to a different fate for Cassie. While it’s implied that she dies in both the bad and secret endings, only the good ending has a unique outcome.
Is FNAF Ruin’s Scooper Ending Canon?
The good ending, also known as the scooper ending, stands out asthe only possible outcome where Cassie survives, since she escapes The Mimic by using the scooper to give it a taste of its own medicine.
This ending alsofits perfectly with the continuity of Security Breach’s Princess Quest ending, since Gregory is nowhere to be found in the Pizzaplex.
Not only that, an interesting detail in the scooper ending hints at a special significance. The Mimic wears an old, filthy costume as it pursues you throughout the tunnels. This references The Mimic’s appearance in Tales From The Pizzaplex #6: Nexie, where it switches between multiple costumes while murdering Fazbear Entertainment employees.
Given that this ending is the only one with a different destiny for Cassie and follows the continuity of the Princess Quest route, along with the fact that The Mimic’s actions are in character with its previous appearance, it’s safe to say thatthe scooper ending is most likely to be FNAF Ruin’s canon ending.
How Does Help Wanted 2 Affect This Theory?
At first glance, Help Wanted 2 doesn’t seem related to FNAF Ruin, since you play as a new Fazbear Entertainment employee. However, if you reach either of the two endings, the connection between both games becomes clear.
The first clue comes from the normal ending, which isset at the beginning of FNAF Ruin. The final cutscene is depicted from the perspective of a S.T.A.F.F. bot, who notices Cassie and offers her a Vanny mask.
This means thatFNAF Ruin takes place immediately after Help Wanted 2.Knowing this is important for deciphering Help Wanted 2’s secret ending.
In the secret ending, you find yourself next to a Glitchtrap plushie in a giant claw machine. Things get even more bizarre whenyou notice Vanny staring at youfrom the other side of the glass.
Shortly after, the Day Care Attendant swoops down and gestures for you to hand over the Glitchtrap doll. If you agree, the animatronic gives the toy to Vanny, who then crushes it into obliterationbefore vanishing into the darkness.
As cryptic as this ending is, a vital clue is revealed if you look at it metaphorically. Vanny’s destruction of the Glitchtrap dollsymbolizes her freedom from William Afton’s control. This corroborates her character arc from Security Breach’s Princess Quest ending.
This seemingly confirms that the Princess Quest ending is canon and thatVanny is reformed during the events of FNAF Ruin.
From this, it can be inferred thatRuin’s scooper ending is also canon, given that it best fits the continuity of the Princess Quest route.
What Does This Mean For The Future Of FNAF?
Cassie may have escaped the danger, but she’s not out of the woods yet. There are several mysteries still lurking in FNAF Ruin.
Did Cassie escape Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex? Is The Mimic actually dead? It’s important to remember that FNAF villains are never defeated this easily, and many animatronics have survived worse in previous games.
Another point to keep in mind is thatThe Mimic’s endoskeleton was never found. At the end of FNAF Ruin, all you see is the empty costume it wore during the chase sequence. Could The Mimic still be out there, waiting in the darkness for its next victim?
