Many of the quests inStarfieldwill have you trekking back and forth between certain NPCs and doing petty tasks for them in the name of achieving something significant. The Red Tape quests on Cydonia are a chain of such quests that have you doing some mildly nefarious things to secure some better mining equipment for the Martian miners.

In the first quest, you’ll have sabotaged the job applications of a few innocent bystanders and secured a cushy executive assistant job for yourself. All of this is for a good cause, so don’t worry. Here’s how to proceed.
Talking To Peter Brennan
As Trevor will tell you, your first task with this mission is to talk to your new ‘boss’,Peter Brennan. You’ll find Peter in his office, which isnext to the HR officein which you sabotaged the applications just a few minutes earlier.
Talking with Peter will reveal that you’re being forced to take care of some other tasks before you’re allowed access to his computer to approve the equipment request form. He tells you toretrieve something from Governor Hurst.
Governor Hurst is also on this floor. Talking to him will reveal that he can release Peter’s shipment for you, but you’ll need to complete a task for him:find his stolen ship and destroy it.
How To Find Governor Hurst’s Stolen Ship
Hurst will let you know exactly where his stolen ship is. Head to your ship and launch into space. You’ll be able to find it in the same system, orbiting one ofUranus’smoons. Travel there now.
You will still be able to blackmail Hurst if you decide to report him to Woodard! This way, you’ll get the boosted reward for completing the questandthe morally superior outcome for the people of Cydonia.
The pirates onboard the ship aren’t too tough to take down after boarding - they’re quite low-level. Alternatively, the pirates will let you go peacefully if you give them someShip Parts.
If you decide to go the ship combat route, be wary that there are no meteors to hide behind in this part of space, so you’ll need to be evasive and outgun your opponent to be successful.
Return To Governor Hurst
No matter how you deal with the stolen ship,return to Cydonia and head to Hurst’s office. Take a detour to CDR Vincent Woodard’s office in security if you have the means to report Hurst for his misdeeds if you wish.
Tell Hurst that you’ve destroyed the ship- even if you didn’t. Mention the shady deals that you learned about from the evidence onboard andtry to extract more moneyfrom him; you’ll get a hefty extra sum of credits for blackmailing him.
With that all done, Hurst will release Peter’s shipment.
Approving The Equipment Request
Return to Peter Brennanin his office and tell him the good news. He’ll tell you his computer’s password, allowing you to access it freely.
Use Peter’s computerand approve the equipment request. For the hell of it, approve all the others, too - you might as well!
Once you’ve completed this final step, you might think you’re totally done with these Red Tape quests, but no!Return to Trevorto get your reward (a bunch of credits and experience, in addition to what you might have extorted from Hurst) and your third and final quest in this chain.
