As you come across the Risen Road inBaldur’s Gate 3, just a little northwestof the Blighted Village, you’ll find some trouble on the road in the form of some hyenas and Gnolls. There are civilians to save and rewards to be had, though, so get your party in gear and get ready for some action.
If you get involved, you can unlock the ‘Find The Missing Shipment’ quest. Here’s everything you need to know about how to start and complete this quest so you can get the best rewards.

How To Start The ‘Find The Missing Shipment’ Quest
There are a few ways to pick up this quest. When you reachthe Risen Road, you cross the broken bridge and come to the crossroads at(X:-10, Y: 513)with a path leading left, straight ahead, or to the right.
If you head to the left, you’ll findWaukeen’s Rest, and if you know where to find theZhentarim Hideout, you can speak to Zarys inside and obtain the quest that way.

However, we recommend heading to the right, where you’ll come across a bunch of hyenas bloated on the ground. A cutscene will start, and you shouldchoose to kill the hyenawhen given the option, as waiting to see what will happen will result in a newborn Gnoll bursting out that you’ll have to defeat.
Your priority here should be killing the sole hyena that is not bloated on the ground, as otherwise, it will run and alert the Gnolls are the top of the hill and bring them into the battle.

Use your best firepower toeliminate the able-bodied hyena and all the bloated hyenason the ground before they can give birth to the Gnolls.
You can loot all the nearby bodies and containers, andreading theShipment Ordersyou loot from theDead Caravan Agentwill kickstart the ‘Find The Missing Shipment’ quest.

You can also useSpeak with Deadon the Dead Caravan Agent to ask what happened and learn about the Wizard’s Shipment. If you don’t have this spell, you can get it byobtaining The Amulet of Lost Voices from the Overgrown Ruins.
If you didn’t read the Shipment Orders, this will also begin the quest.

How To Defeat The Gnolls
Your next aim is to defeat the Gnolls at the top of the hill. you may do this from the path that leads up from where the hyenas were or backtrack and take the centre path across from the bridge to reach them.
Dispatch these Gnolls as quickly as you can, thenhead to (X:31, Y: 591)to find the rest of the Gnolls who have the remaining caravan survivors corned in a cave.

If youget close to the Gnoll named Filind, you can control it with your Illthid powers (your brain worm). You can choose to divert her to the survivors hidden in the cave, but we recommend that youchoose ‘Search her mind for the source of the voice’. as this will make the battle much easier.
If you want to control her straight away, use Hide or Invisibility to draw close enough without the battle starting.

Afterward,do an Illithid Wisdom Skill Check with the ‘You are of the same pack - command her to devour the other gnolls.’ option, which has an easy difficulty class of two. This will send Filind to attack the other Gnolls on your behalf.
Once the Gnolls are defeated, Filind will still be hungry. you’re able to choose to perform a Wisdom Skill Check and dominate her to make her feed on herself, a Wisdom Skill Check to make her leave, or prepare to fight.

We recommend making her feed on herself to save yourself the hassle, which has a difficulty class of ten. You’ll have todouble down and perform another Wisdom Skill Checkwith a difficulty class of 15.
If you fail, you’ll have to defeat her in battle, but at least she will be alone.
Once Filind is dead, make sure you loot her corpse for the Mind Flayer Parasite Specimen,as you’ll need this later.
Afterward, approach the survivors and speak to Rugan.
How To Deal With Rugan
Rugan can be dealt with in a few different ways, most of which will result in you having to go to the Zhentarim Hideout eventually. On your way to Waukeen’s Rest, be sure to loot the wagon for goods.
We have afull guide on where to find the hideout here.
Help The Survivors
After helping the survivors, Rugan will tell you where to find the Zhentarim Hideout and give you the password.
If you head there, you may easily get in. Speak to Zarys to receive theHaroldlight crossbowand some gold, andBrem’s available wares will expand, too.
Extort The Survivors
You can choose todemand some coinrather than just hospitality, which Rugan will begrudgingly hand over. Then you can head to the Zhentarim Hideout and claim your rewards.
We recommend this option as you get some extra coin, and still complete the quest without angering the Zhentarim, and get the rewards and access to Brem’s wares.
Strike A Deal With Rugan
If your characters can pick up on the fact Rugan is part of the Zhentarim, you canstrike a deal to sell the cargo elsewhere and split the profits. If you do this and then go to the Zhentarim Hideout, you discover Rugan and Olly were discovered, and the Zhentarim want you all dead.
You can talk your way out of the situation, butZarys will want you to kill Rugan to make up for your mistake. You’ll then have to take the cargo to Baldur’s Gate in his stead.
Failing to convince Zarys to let you live or refusing to kill Rugan results in you having to fight the Zhentarim.
Kill The Survivors And Take The Chest
you’re able to choose tolay claim to the cargo and kill the survivorsto steal the chest from within the cave. Then, you can choose totake it to Zhentarim Hideoutat Waukeen’s Rest (its intended destination), or you canlockpick it open.
What Happens If You Open The Caravan Strongbox?
If, at any point, you lockpick the Caravan Strongbox, you’ll find anIron Flask,18 gold, and aViridian Crystalwithin. You’ll need to pass a Dexterity skill check of 20 and have someThieves' Toolson hand to do this.
If you inspect the Iron Flask and pass an Arcana skill check of ten, you discover it’sa magical item that is capable of holding a creature. Throwing the Iron Flask will cause a particularlystrong Spectator to appear that you must defeat.
We have afull guide on what the Iron Flask does here.
