Despite Mindflayers seeming like the ultimate beast that you shouldn’t bump into until much later, you can actually find a few on your journey to Baldur’s Gate. You are able to decide whether you should murder any Mindflayer you see or make deals with the devil. Here is what happens when you talk to the injured Mindflayer at the beginning of the game.
Should You Kill The Mindflayer On The Beach?
There isno real positive or negative benefit to killing this Mindflayer. He willdie anywaybecause he is injured. You get35 XPfor killing him by hand yourself and canloot a random itemfrom him.
Killing him is the best optionsince the other can lead to pretty grim results. You don’t get much when looting him, but XP is XP.
Mindflayers are the ones who kidnapped you and experimented on you, it is only right that youkill any Mindflayer you find from here on out.
What Happens If You Let The Mindflayer Into Your Head?
TheMindflayer will try to connect with you through your Ilithid parasitein hopes of swaying you to feel empathy and compassion. With these emotions, you may yet justrescue the Mindflayer and tend to his wounds, so he can continue on.
If you let the Mindflayer take over, he will sap all of your strength and health for himself. He will leave you, dead on the ground, and will continue on. Your character will state that they feel fulfilled and warm upon death.
The Mindflayer will alsoattack any companion you may have, and then the game will sayGame Over.
