More details have been added to explain what’s included in the A Rift In Time Expansion Pass and what’s included with the free content updates to come.
When Does Disney Dreamlight Valley Leave Early Access?
Afterseveral important story updatesthat wrapped up the main story’s first chapter, many gameplay aspects refined,new quests and characters added, and a plentiful assortment of items to customize your home and character with, it’s time for the official launch.
If you haven’t purchased Disney Dreamlight Valley yet, or if you’re looking to expand your game, you won’t want to miss this opportunity.
While Disney Dreamlight Valley has been in Early Access for over a year now, theofficial launch of the gamecomes this winter. OnDecember 5th, 2023, Disney Dreamlight Valleyleaves its Early Access stageand enters the open market with its first Expansion Pack.
This exciting update comes with more news as well, including details about the Expansion Pass, the newly announced Gold Edition, and expectations going forward. There’s a lot in store for the future of the valley, and we’re excited to explore it.
Is Dreamlight Valley Free To Play?
The long-awaited free-to-play release of Disney Dreamlight Valley has been discontinued. Rather,the game will not be free-to-playas previously anticipated. Instead, the game can beaccessed via Founder’s Packsuntil December 4th, 2023.
On December 5th, after the official release, the game can bepurchased digitally and physically.
The choice toremain a paid gamefor the foreseeable futurecomes as a surprise to some, but the choice ultimately reflects the desire to continue providing a magical experience.
While the announcement comes with some disappointment, understandably, there will still befree content updatesgoing forward in the game.
Additional content can bepurchased using Moonstonesor throughfuture Expansion Passthat open the valley to more adventure.
Moonstones willremain an optional purchaseand can still beobtained for free through DreamSnaps and Chestsfound in the valley.
What Comes With The Gold Edition?
With the official launch of Disney Dreamlight Valley,a new edition is availablefor purchase. New players can enjoy a bundle that includes the base game and a few extras for an additional price. The Gold Edition includes:

What Comes With The Rift In Time Expansion Pass?
With news of the first Disney Dreamlight Valley Expansion Pass, it seems like there isplenty of adventure on the horizon.
There arenew gameplay featuresunderway, as well asnew characters to meet, animal companions to befriend, andbiomes to explore!
Don’t worry, even without the pass, there’smore content in store.
Based on the roadmap for 2024, the paid Disney Dreamlight Valley expansion pack willunlock the beginning stages of the new chapter, though it will berolled out in stages during the first half of the year. From the moment it releases, you’ll be able to meet the new characters.
New areas will beunlocked later in springafter you’ve had plenty of time to get to know your new neighbors. Additionally,summer is where it will all come to a headand the new chapter will expand tofacing off with Jafar to fix the rift in time.
New Characters
Looking at the official art, it appears like there will be new characters, likeGaston, Rapunzel, and EVE, which have been confirmed in the Disney Dreamlight Valley Showcase.
Now that the Forgetting has been dealt with,it’s time to face a new villain: Jafar. His latest scheme has gone horribly wrong, and you’llhave to help himget out of itwith a new Royal Tool.
You’ll be able toadventure across Eternity Isleto meet these new friends, and the newest villains, in your journey to restore the valley to its former glory. While not much is known about Eternity Isle right now, it seems likeit will include new biomes and critters.
New Biomes
There are three new biomes included with the expansion. Thefirst is Ancient’s Landing, where you’ll explore theremnants of a port town’s civilization. While the people are long gone,the mystery remains.
There are alsonew machines that can help youcomplete your duties.
While not confirmed, the statues around Eternity Isle appear to resemble the Stone Guardians from Atlantis.
The nexttwo biomes are actually the same one, butsplit in twothanks to Jafar’s time rift conundrum.The Glittering Dunesfeature thepalace from Agrabahlooming in the distance withwarm sands and cactus.
On the other side isthe Wild Tangle, which isa jungle biomethat comes withnew assets for trees and plants. These can be used to decorate your village.
The new biomes are aboutthe size of the original villageand come withtheir own object count, so you can decorate them to your heart’s content.
There are plenty of hidden areas in the new biomes, so verify to explore thoroughly.
New Critters
With new biomes comenew critters to befriend. These critters includemonkeys, cobra snakes, and capybara.There will also benew resources and ingredients to collect.
The Disney Dreamlight Valley Expansion Pack will be required toprogress through the next chapterof the main story, but it is not necessary to purchase to enjoy the game. Thebase game will still be availablefor purchase and to those who have been playing.
Will There Be Multiplayer?
Yes! The ValleyVerse is Disney Dreamlight Valley’s multiplayer mode, which will belimited to exploring the main valley, player house, and Scrooge McDuck’s Shopat launch, but there’s hope for more as the game continues to grow.
If you don’t like what your valley has in stock at Scrooge McDuck’s shop, you may visit a friend’s instead!
Online subscriptions may be requiredto access these features. It appears that up to four friends can visit your valley at a time, though the official limit is unknown.
Additionally,Cross-Play will be availableas well! you may play with friends across PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch to explore each other’s village and spend time together.
While Disney Dreamlight Valley is available on PlayStation,Cross Play will not be supported on this consoleat this time.
New Minigames
Anew minigame has been announced: Scramblecoin. It’s a fast-paced strategy game in which youuse figurines of Disney and Pixar charactersto collect coins. You canplay this game with other villagers.
You’ll get additional enjoyment out of playing the game and engaging with the other villagers in your Valley, as well as the rewards for doing so.
What’s Next For The Free Content Updates?
The Free Content Roadmap is exciting, to say the least. Starting December 5th, right at launch, theValleyVerse will be availableand anew character will be added: Jack Skellington.
Late winter 2024 promises anew realm doorthat will reveal Monsters Inc.characters Mike and Sulley. Early spring 2024 reveals a vibrant new villager, whichsuggests the long-awaited Daisy Duck, though she is not officially confirmed.
Late spring appears to open another door,this time to Mulan’s Realm, though her appearance has yet to be officially confirmed. Another princess was revealed as well for summer 2024, whichbrings the illustrious Tiana to your village.
Additionally, the next winter Star Path features new decorative items and outfits, includingBelle’s pink winter gown.
What Is Dreamlight Valley Arcade Edition?
Additionally announced wasDisney Dreamlight Valley Arcade Edition, which featuresboth the base game and the expansionon Apple devices exclusively.
The Arcade Edition does not have Star Paths or the Premium Shop.
Arcade mode is a complete Disney Dreamlight Valley experiencethrough an Apple Arcade subscription. It will be available at launch.
Do I Have To Purchase The Expansion Pass?
The short answer is no. When you purchase Disney Dreamlight Valley after December 5th, it’s afully complete gameby itself. The Expansion Pass aims toadd more contentbut isnot required to play the game.
Early Access players and newcomers will be able toplay Disney Dreamlight Valley without the Expansion Passpurchased. The base game is full of exciting adventures, colorful characters, and enough content to keep you busy for a long time.
