Sometimes, the quests inBaldur’s Gate 3stretch out over many different areas, requiring you to keep an eye out for the smallest details and inquire with just the right characters to learn where your destinations lie. And then other times, quests are simple tasks that can be picked up and completed within just a few minutes.

In the small town of Rivington, outside the titular city itself, you can enter the Sword Coast Courier Post House and talk to the man inside to learn of a pesky little problem plaguing the people of Rivington.

Updated July 02, 2025:We’ve added more information to this guide about the Tressym if you have Gale with you, and made sure everything else is readable and clear.

The Sword Coast Courier

You’ll find the Sword Coast Courier Post House in Rivington, towards the beginning of Act 3. The specific coordinates of the entrance areX:10, Y:3.

Enter the Post House and speak toDanzo Arkwright, the dwarf behind the counter. In this conversation, you can learn that letters are going missing and the bodies of the Post House’s carrier pigeons are being found all over the place. He’ll ask you to go retrieve the letters, as one of them is a personal one.

Finding The Letters

The culprit behind the pigeon deaths is actually a lot closer than you might think. Directly to the west of the Post House is theOpen Hand Temple, a really large building. On the north side of the temple, you’re able to find acampsite (X:-41, Y:16).

There are someKnotted Rootshere - use these to climb up to the temple’s roof. Here’s where you’ll find the culprit, a Tressym.

Dealing With The Tressym

This catlike creature is actually even more magical than it appears. You do not needSpeak With Animalsto speak with it, though it will let you cut to the chase if you’re under that spell.

Speak to the Tressymto learn that it has no qualms about revealing that it’s the culprit behind the pigeon deaths. In fact, you can see the letters underneath it.

Rolling Intimidation against Danzo Awkwright in Baldur’s Gate 3

The key to dealing with the Tressym is topass two checks in a row. You haveIntimidation, Persuasion, and Deceptiondialogue options available - regardless of how you decide to tackle the Tressym, it will fly away and let you pick the letters up.

If you succeed on both checks, however, the Tressym promises to be more helpful the next time you meet, with the potential for bartering, even!

If you haveGale in your party, you will be able to get the Ring of Blink and convince the Tressym (whose name is Tara) without passing any checks!

After dealing with the Tressym, pick up the Bundle of Letters.

Getting Your Reward

Head back to the Post House. You have two options here:

It’s possible that thePersuasion check to increase the reward when you return the letters without opening them is bugged- we got the same reward amount upon passing and upon just handing the letters over.
