How To Get The Investigate Cazador’s Palace Quest

If you’ve been progressing through Astarion’s personal story, then you should be no stranger toCazador—the cruel vampire lord of Baldur’s Gate.

Interactions withRaphael in Act 2—if youdefeat his rival, Yurgirand then talk to him with Astarion in tow—will further explain that Cazador is looking to sacrifice all of his vampire spawn in order to become avampire ascendant,a near-divine creature capable of terrorizing the city.

Still, however, the way of actually obtaining the quest is a little closer to home. As you enter theouter city of Baldur’s Gate, you’ll encountera camp of Gur (X:95, Y:-17)northeast of theRivington waypoint. Speak to them to learn that they’remounting an attack against Cazadoras the vampire lord has stolen many of their children.

If Astarion is in your party, the Gur will recognize him as the one who stole the children, and ask that he take his first step towards redemption. Regardless of what Astarion answers here, you will havea chance to influence his morality againlater when confronting Cazador.

This will give you the quest “Investigate Cazador’s Palace” under theBaldur’s Gate quest tab,as well as an update for “The Pale Elf”, Astarion’s personal story quest.

How To Find The Szarr Palace

Astarion will acknowledge that Cazador will likely be conducting the ritual somewhere secretive—only known to him and his spawn.

As noted in the quest log, Astarion frequently mentions that Cazador’s spawn are sent to lure victims from the Outer and Lower City, so that’s where you’ll need to start searching.

You’ll find two of his spawn—Dalyria and Pale Petras—on the second floor ofFraygo’s Flophouse, (X:-4, Y:81), just across the street from theSouth Span of Wyrm’s Crossingwaypoint(X:17, Y:75).

Having Astarion in your partyduring this encounter will lead to Astarion violently interrogating Petras in the sunlight. If you approach them without Astarion, they’ll attempt to lure you to Cazador, at which point you canplay along to gather more information.

Regardless of which path you take, you’ll learn that Cazador plans to hold the Ascension Ritualbeneath the Szarr Palace (X:-70, Y:-55)overlooking the graveyard in the Lower City, just west of theLower City Central Wall waypoint. This will unlock the next step of the quest.
