While you might spend most of your time running around various planets inStarfield, you’ll still have to think about your Ship upgrades and customizations. As you continue the main story, you’ll first get Barrett’s ship called the Frontier, and it’ll have some basic stats that’ll help you win easy battles.

However, as you progress further into the solar systems with higher recommended levels, you’ll start having a hard time winning battles and managing Cargo Capacity even at Normal difficulty. To avoid this, you have to regularly invest some Credits in your Ship upgrades.

How To Buy New Ships
You can buy new ships whenever you head over to one of themain cities in the Settled Systems like Cydonia, Jemison, Gagarin, Akila, and Neon. As soon as you land in the city, you’ll find a Ship Services Technician nearby. They’re usually standing near Trade Authority Kiosks, and you’ll only find them at the city’s Spaceport.
Sometimes,these Technicians might be sitting inside a building nearby. As you talk to them, they’ll give a brief introduction about the planet you’re on and then display a menu where you can either get your ship repaired for some Credits, customize your ship, or buy a new ship. You’ll see four to five ships every time you enter the buying menu.
The ships you can buy from a technician vary from planet to planet, so it’s worth going to every city you can find andbrowsing through their stock before selecting your preferred ship. These are some of the most expensive items in the game, and you won’t be able to make these purchases often.
When you’re browsing through a Technician’s stock, you’ll see the rating of a certain ship (A, B, or C). Keep in mind that you have toupgrade a specific Skill if you want to pilot B or C-type ships.
How To Upgrade And Customize Your Ship
you may start upgrading and customizing your ships by talking to the same person andselecting the second option saying that you’d like to modify your ship. There are two ways to go about this process:
In Ship Builder, you can seeWarning or Error signson the bottom right side of the screen.
All your changes will be reverted to normalif you try to save the ship when it has the Error sign.
The Ship Builder area also allows you to color every part of your ship,which lets you make them very good-looking.
