TheAncient Arowanadoesn’t have the most uses in cooking, but most players will eventually need to seek one out to start collecting theirZora Armorset. Due to its rarity, it’s likely you haven’t seen this fish before Lady Yona asks you to retrieve one. If that’s the case, you’ve come to the right place. Below, we’ll take a look at two of the best locations for gathering Ancient Arowana.
Where To Find Ancient Arowana
If you’ve just accepted the request from Lady Yona to get an Ancient Arowana, there’s actually a great spot close by you may use. FromYona, where you accepted the request, or from theIhen-a Shrinenearby, head to thesouth, up the staircase. Without diverging from this path, travel all the wayup to the top, where the statue is.
You should be able to find a fewAncient Arowanaswimming around in this pool of water. To make gathering them easier, we recommend throwing aYellow Chuchuor any otherelectrifying iteminto the pool, which will immobilize (kill) the Ancient Arowana, allowing you to easily pick them up.
Another great location to catch a few Ancient Arowana is theGreat Sky Islandfrom the start of the game. Head to the east of theNachoyah Shrineat thesouth of the island, then glidedown to the pond below. Looking at your map, the pond you’re looking for is rightnext to the Mining Cave icon.
Once you’re here, take a second to swim around in the pond and you should be able to nab an Ancient Arowana or two, or use theelectrocutiontrick for faster gathering.
Ancient Arowana Uses
As mentioned above, the main use for the Ancient Arowana is to get the first piece of theZora armor set. This piece of armorincreases your swimming speed, and even lets youswim vertically up waterfalls, making itessentialwhen progressing in theZora questline.
Besides that, the Ancient Arowana can becooked and eatenlike other fish, but itdoesn’t have any special effectsor dishes. If you have a few extra Arowana after obtaining the Zora armor, don’t worry about holding onto them for a special recipe later.
