Bethesda enjoys filling its game with a ton of different items to incentivize inventory management, andStarfieldis no different. You’ll start finding a huge number of items from the very start of the game, and most of these items will have a set mass assigned to them. Of course, you can only pick up more items if you don’t reach your mass limit.
Thankfully, the game gives you extra storage in the form of your ship’s Cargo space. While your Ship’s storage might not be as high at the start, there are a few methods that can increase it massively and prevent storage problems forever.

How To Find Your Ship’s Storage
It might not be hard to find the Cargo storage for the Frontier, which is the first ship you command in the game, but it can getmuch more difficult if you board bigger ships to take over them during Space Combat. The first thing to remember about your ship’s Cargo storage is that you get it in two places: Cargo Hold and Captain’s Locker.
Both of these can be found near the pilot seat of every shipunless you’ve arranged them differently using the Ship Builder. The best way to look for them on a new ship is to head straight to the pilot seat and look in every room nearby. The Cargo Hold usually has a lit-up screen with Cargo Hold written on it.

While Captain’s Locker doesn’t have a lot of storage itself,it can be used to store your treasured items.
It’s also important to remember that your Cargo gets moved whenever you change your home ship. This stillapplies even if your new ship has less Cargo Capacity than the previous one. For example, if you have 1200 mass worth of items in a ship and switch to a ship with only 200 Cargo capacity, it’ll show 1200/200 on the HUD.
How To Increase Your Ship’s Storage
There are essentially three ways to increase your Ship’s storage, buttwo of them will cost you some Credits:
For most Ships, youwon’t be able to see the upgrades to increase Cargoin the normal Ship Upgrades.
If you have a bunch of Credits on your hand, here are the best ships you can buy in different cities of Starfield:
2280
1460
1260
1760
4130
2790
2660
B
All these ships will easily cost you over 100,000 Credits, but you can reduce the cost by upgrading certain skills. Moreover, you’ll only be able to pilot the A-type Reactor ships until you upgrade the Piloting Skill.
