Baldur’s Gate 3sports some of the most interesting and compelling characters that we’ve ever seen in an RPG. They have rich backgrounds that you can tease out of them by getting close to them, and personal quests that are satisfying to complete.

One such potential companion is Karlach, who is also one of the possible Origin Characters who you can make your main avatar in the world of Faerun. If you don’t make her your avatar, though, you’ll have to track down the feisty Barbarian Tiefling yourself. She’s hidden away quite well, though!

How To Find Karlach

There are ostensibly two ways to find Karlach in the game:

Karlach is located on theRisen Road. Specifically, she is to thesoutheastof the area, at the following coordinates:X:111, Y:503. She will be on a rocky outcropping over a narrow river.

A few steps away from Karlach’s location, you can find aToll Collector’s Key(X:102, Y:522). This can be used in the basement of the building nearby, which Karlach will direct you to as part of her personal quest.

How To Get Karlach To Join Your Party

Simplyspeak to Karlach,and you’ll be able to get her story, as with all the other companions. She’ll state her case and give you some background, and you’ll be able to ask her to join you. If you have space in your party, you’ll be able to take her right along; if you don’t have space, she’ll simply head to your camp.

If you have Wyll in your party, however, things are more complicated. He will try to get you to kill Karlach, but it’s very easy to convince him to stand down, and he will actually gain approval if youpoint out that he knows she’s not a devil. Once you’ve calmed Wyll down, you may carry on the conversation with Karlach as normal and recruit her if you wish.

If you haven’t recruited Wyll at all and you recruit Karlach, a scene will play out when you next go camping in whichWyll arrives at your campto kill Karlach. This allows you to recruit Wyll even if you miss him at the Druid Grove.
