Across all eight biomes, numerous resources can be collected and used in crafting recipes and quests. Night Shards are a precious resource inDisney Dreamlight Valley, similar to Dream Shards. This foraged material can be hard to find, and while it may not have many uses, it is still an important part of the valley.

Finding Night Shards can be tricky. However, this guide will help you build up an inventory of them so that you’re prepared for future quests and gifts. There’s only one way to find them, though they can be crafted later as well. The collection menu can’t give you exact locations for where to find these shards, but this guide can help.
How To Find Night Shards
Night Shards are foraged materials thatcan be found in any biome in the valley. When you explore the village, you’ll seesparkling holes in the groundin every biome. These holes have a chance of reaping a Night Shard, among other rewards.
Don’t forget to bring a companion along with a Digging role. They can help you collect more Night Shards as you comb through the valley for resources. Plus, you’ll build more friendship with them as you go. It’s a win-win situation.

Use the Royal Shoveland start digging. It’s theonly way to find Night Shardsin the game, and you can often find plenty bycombing through each biome. You’ll need to haveenough shards stored upfor quests and gifts, whether you need the shards themselves or if you need them tocraft Purified Night Shards.
How To Craft Night Shards
If you’re having trouble finding enough Night Shards in the ground, or if you’d prefer to stock up,you can craft themat a Crafting Station. What you’ll need is Onyx. After the 1.2 update, you can nowmine Onyx gemsin Dreamlight Valley. Like Night Shards,Onyx can be found in any biome.
If you’re set on mining Onyx,bring a companion with you. Companions with a Mining role can help you collect more resources as you go. Plus, you’ll become better friends and earn rewards.

Using the Royal Pickaxe, you canmine rock nodesacross the valley for this rare gem. When you collect it, you can take it to a Crafting Station andcreate more Night Shards. You’ll only needone Onyx to make three Night Shards, which makes this a good way to build your inventory.
