One ofStarfield’s many big draws is outpost-building. While it takes a great deal of resources to create a great outpost, the production capability ensures it will ultimately prove profitable. So profitable, in fact, that we can think of no other method to guarantee hundreds of thousands of credits.

You’ll need several key resources for outpost construction, including one referred to as Structural. You may even bump into other circumstances in which Structural is required, such as during higher-tier research and modification projects. There are a few solid sources, but Starfield hardly points them out to you firsthand - and that’s where we come in.
Method One: Purchasing From Vendors
Here’s the easiest route to obtaining Structural, but not necessarily the fastest, and surely not the most cost-effective.There are vendors in most settlements who will sell resources such as Structural- look for the sorts of all-purpose shops that don’t sound so much like they specialize in weaponry, foodstuffs, and so forth.
There are two major issues with relying exclusively on merchants. The first, and rather more obvious, is thatyou will end up spending tens of thousands of creditsin the final telling before you have a substantial outpost empire up and running. The other issue is thatyou’re limited by how many items a vendor has at any given time; even if you wanted to drop 50,000 credits at once on Structural, you probably can’t. You’ve got to wait for them to restock.

We don’t mean to come down too hard on this approach. There’s nothing wrong with buying Structural sometimes, but we don’t recommend relying upon it in entirety.
Method Two: Scavenging Enemy Bases
You’ll be assaulting alotof bases belonging to pirates, smugglers, spacers, zealots - you know, the whole gamut of them. Structural is occasionally foundhanging around on countertops, near workbenches, inside crates, and really, anyplace else there’s loot.
This is the least effective way to obtain large quantities of Structural, but it’s convenient since you’ll already be scoping these places out.Just remind yourself not to sell them, which can be harder than it sounds when you’re toting around a ton of stuff.

We suppose we should add that theft from peaceful areas also counts, though you’ll need to keep an eye out for onlookers. Plus, that’s rude!
Method Three: Harvesting The Galaxy
Here’s our prime pick. You’ll find Structural, as well as plenty of other mainstay resources, within various plants and wildlife. You simply need toharvestit. In the case of flora, this means getting close enough for the ‘Harvest’ button to pop up. With dead creatures, you’ll instead need to check out their lootas you would any other time.
Animal versions of Structural areoften referred to by body part followed by ‘(Structural)’ in parentheses;these crude ingredients work just as well as anything store-bought. Some worlds will be far better than others for finding Structural, and plenty of planets won’t have any to offer at all. A good rule of thumb is toseek out planets with a high amount of vegetation. There’s a decent chance one of the species of plants has what you need.

Ultimately, combining the three major methods is the wisest course - or, if you hate spending hard-earned cash, the second and third methods. The quickest path is a planet with an ample supply of the stuff, likePorrima II, or someplace with a high concentration of creatures who drop Structural, likeEta Cassiopeia.
