There are two people that are trapped in the fires at Waukeen’s Rest who will die without your aid. It is worth saving them because the trapped man will give you a reward and theother survivor can be found later in the game, if you save them.

How To Save The Trapped Man From Dying
Once you find this area, do not Long Rest, or else the survivors will end up dying.
Thegame tricks you into going through the main entrancewith the Flaming Fist soldiers, but for both survivors, you can enter at the sides of the building. For this trapped man,enter through the left part of the building.
As soon as you get near the trapped man,an explosion will occur, and fire will start making its way to him.This will set you on a timer. The longer you wait, the faster the fire will reach him.
From the entrance to the leftof the main doors,head up the stairs and cross the hall.This is when the explosion will occur. You mustbash the wooden planks using your Main Attack. Breaking these beams will allow you access toBenryn.
To save him, you mustinteract with himandpass a Strength or Investigation skill check.
End your turn and allow him to retreat.
How To Find Benryn’s Dowry
Benryn will fall to the floor of his deceased lover in the next room. you’re able to finish his questline byfinding his dowryto theback left of Waukeen’s Rest.
Behind the burning building, there arethree different sheds.The firstone to your rightwill be what you need. You mustwalk close enough to the left-hand hay bailthat you throw up a Perception check.
Upon asuccessful Perception check, your character will remark something strange about the hay. You can interact with it to reveal a Gilding Chest, like in the photo above.
Inside the Gilding Chest is a ring, Benyrn’s dowry that can be given to him.
