Once you have finally started to establish yourself over the course of the first hours ofThe Lord Of The Rings: Return To Moriayou will stumble over a chest by the statue of Ori In order to open it, you’ll need to obtain Ori’s Key.
But despite what you may initially think, this isn’t an item you find while exploring the hollowed halls of Moria. You’ll need to craft Ori’s Key yourself. We’ll take you through everything you need to acquire, what machinery you need to build, and get you that key in no time.

Where Is Ori’s Chest?
Once you reach The Old Camp (Ori’s Base), you will find a giant statue of Ori. By the statue’s feet, you will find Ori’s Chest. Now, we just need to get the key!
How To Get Ori’s Key
Conveniently, you will be able to get access to Ori’s Key simply by building up your base. As we said in the intro, you don’t find Ori’s key. Instead, you need to craft it using the forge. This requires three pieces of equipment… The Stone Hearth, Furnace, and the Forge.
The Stone Hearth at Ori’s Base can be repaired for ten Stones. You’ll likely have these on you, so that isn’t a big deal. For an additional eight stones, you’re able to rebuild the Furnace. If you don’t have any stones on you, just head outside the base and use your trusty pickaxe to break apart pretty much anything around you.

While you can get stones by breaking apart things like fallen columns, this is a pretty tedious process. Focus on the rough bits of stone lining breakable walls, or the piles of stone rubble.
Of course, if you are at the base you will have needed to tunnel through a stone wall. That is your best bet for collecting a large stack of stones.Once, you have all the stone your heart could ever desire, head back to the camp and build the Hearth and Furnace.

Now for the tough bit,you need three Iron Ingots to rebuild the Forge, which translates to needing to minenine Iron Ore chunks. However,Ori’s Key will also require an ingot. So you will need a total of 12 pieces of Iron Ore.
In the first section of the game Iron Ore is pretty hard to come by, however, despite each world being randomly generated, there will always be a patch of Iron Ore near Ori’s Base. So, just look for a crude rock wall that has an orange patch.

If you follow the tutorial, build your bedroll, cook a meat dish, and just follow all the necessary steps, then once you get to the “build-up the base” objective, the game will be kind enough to create a way-point to the iron ore patch.
Once you have the nine Iron Ore chunks, head back to the base. Use the Furnace to turn the ore into Iron Ingots. Finally, rebuild the Forge, and forge the key. It should be available to craft from the Forge the instance you rebuild the Forge. If Ori’s Key isn’t available from the Forge menu, then you didn’t interact with the chest, so go do so, and you will automatically acquire the recipe for the key.

What Is In Ori’s Akhfur Chest?
For all your hard work you will earn…
While this will initially seem a little underwhelming, the fact that you get three Iron Ingots means that the key pays for itself instantly. Beyond that, those Gold Coins are hard to come by and you can use them to build the Treasure Cachewhich will grant you a massive buff when defending a base!
