In the previousCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertyquest, you chose to side with Reed. As a result, Songbird lost it and went on a rampage. MaxTac managed to stop and arrest her, but that isn’t exactly what Reed and President Myers wanted.
Therefore, you must now get her back. This is the main goal in the Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos quest. However, it isn’t exactly easy to achieve as MaxTac won’t just hand her over, nor does Songbird want to go with you. You need a Netrunner’s help and a plan. Here is how you get both of those things.
Which Netrunner Should You Ask To Help?
The first thing you need to do in this quest isselect a Netrunnerto hack into MaxTac for you. Your options depend on the progress you have made in the base game.
Not every Netrunner will be able to help.These are the ones that can lend you a hand:

She wants you to activate a quickhack on an Officer’s body in return.
No issues.
Chang-Hoon
The hack messes him up, and he is forced to leave Night City.
Mr. Hands' Netrunner
You must pay 15,000 eddies for this service. Also, the Netrunner wants you to provide them with the location of the MaxTac convoy.
After you make your pick,go to their designated location to grab the shardand send Reed a message with the details.
How To Plan Your Attack
Next, you need tomeet Reed at the abandoned hotel just west of Dogtown. You will find him upstairs where all the green dots are located. Johnny will stop you for a chat on your way there.
After you talk to Reed and follow him outside, he leaves you with the man in charge of planning the ambush. So, talk to the guy.You can let him do the preparations or set things up yourself.

These decisions don’t impact the story at all. They simply alter the gameplay experience.

After the prep is ready,talk to Reed.
If you previously agreed to send Mr. Hands' Netrunner the location of the convoy, you can send that information to Mr. Hands now.
Then,get into your ambush positionand hit the ‘wait’ prompt.
The Ambush
When the convoy arrives,kill all the NCPD officerswho are protecting the main truck. This is where your plan of attack comes into play. So, use whatever you set up to get an advantage over the cops.
When they’re down,go to the back of the main truck and attempt to open the door.
You will be met by the MaxTac operators.
How To Defeat The MaxTac Operators
These operators aren’t regular cops. They’re much more dangerous.Each of them has a health bar and a unique set of skills.
Unless you’re a very skilled close combatant, you may want to back up to find a bit more cover. But there is no place that is entirely safe. You have to face these four beasts head-on. Thankfully, Reed is nearby with his sniper, leading you a hand.
When he shoots one of them, they often become vulnerable, so that is a good time to strike.
Outside of the ones Reed stuns, you shouldaim to take down Jasper Collinsfirst, as he will attempt to disrupt your cybernetics.
Go After Songbird
Once you’ve killed all the MaxTac Operators, head back toward the truck. V’s cybernetics will then start to go haywire, andSongbird will cause plenty of destruction before escaping in the truck.
Reed will get hurt in the process. So,go to the upper terrace to check on him.
Afterward,head down the road to chase after Songbird.Eventually, you reach a part with a bunch of cars.
From here, turn left and head down the road until you seeseveral vehicles on fire.This is where to stop. When you do, the quest comes to a close.
When trying to chase down Songbird, you may call your car to make the process faster.
