One major advantage of Xbox over PlayStation is its backward compatibility. Over 600 Xbox 360 games are playable on the modern Xbox consoles, with an addition 60 plus original Xbox games. This is much more content than what you’ll see out of PlayStation’s old catalog on its modern systems.

Due to this, you can play many game series front to back on Xbox. A lot of these can’t be played in their entirety on PlayStation, which is why this is such a major Xbox advantage. In addition, since Xbox owns so many game studios today, many of their premier series are also fully available on Xbox.

10Batman Arkham

Batman Arkhamis the most critically acclaimed Superhero game series, though the recentSpider-Mantitles are coming close. The first two games, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City were remastered in 2016 for Xbox One and PS4.

With the final game in the trilogy,Arkham Knightlaunching on eighth-gen systems, it seems both consoles have all the games.

However, modern PlayStation consoles are missing one gem: Arkham Origins. Developed by WB Games Montreal, Arkham Origins is a prequel set in Batman’s early days as a crime fighter.

With amazing bosses that trump the ones in Arkham Knight, quality combat, and a sweet holiday setting, you have to check this game out. Since it’s delisted, youcan only play it via a physical disc, however.

WhileDead or Aliveisn’t a big fighting games series anymore, it was huge in the original Xbox and Xbox 360 days. DOA Ultimate, 3, and 4 still hold up both gameplay-wise and graphically.

DOA Ultimate and 4 were some of the first fighting games on consoles to have online play, with DOA4 innovating the social hub aspect still seen today with titles likeStreet Fighter 6.

Since these were big Xbox exclusives, they’re backward compatible on Xbox Series X|S. This means all six DOA games are playable, and it’s really cool to see the series evolve throughout the times.

8Doom

When it comes to old-school FPS games, nothing tops the legendary status ofDoom. Over three decades later, it still has an active community, making viral maps like My House.

Doom is owned by ZeniMax Media, which Microsoft bought, meaning all the games are available on Xbox Game Pass. This means all six official classic Doom campaigns, Doom 64, Doom 3, Doom 2016, andDoom Eternal.

That’s all the main installments, and they’re all different. Doom 3 has more of a horror vibe, feeling like a bit of a predecessor toDead Space.

Doom 2016 feels the most classic, but with the many enemies, it feels more like an arena shooter. That feeling continues even more so to Doom Eternal.

Lost Planet 2 Giant Black And Red Monster

The most popular and well-known horror game series in the deep cosmos is Dead Space. All three games were released on seventh-gen consoles, and with a relatively consistent control scheme, these are comforting titles to play for veterans.

The original trilogy isn’t playable on PS5, even via cloud-streaming PS3 games.

However, every Dead Space game released for the 360 is backward compatible with modern Xbox systems and is on Game Pass. This even includes Dead Space Ignition, the puzzle spin-off.

Dead Space Ignition actually unlocks a few bonuses in Dead Space 2, and with the second and third games having FPS Boost, an Xbox Series system is the best platform to play the series.

6Lost Planet

One Capcom series that just didn’t catch on was Lost Planet. Even when the first game was released, the temperature system turned many off. It’s unfortunate because if you get a good team together, it can be a lot of fun.

The trilogy was released for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. You can play these games on a PS5 with a PS Plus Premium subscription but with cloud streaming, which isn’t ideal.

This is especially true for a series that shines in its multiplayer. All three games are locally playable on modern Xbox consoles; the second and third installments were even Games With Gold titles quite a while ago.

This means some entries can be in your library, and you just never bothered to play them. The series is worth trying, at least, because itis quite an enjoyable multiplayer experience.

Unlike Lost Planet,Dead Risingwas a Capcom series that did catch on. The first two games are still very well-liked, with it being sort of a survival horror comedy.

They’re not scary games, though they can be disturbing but has all the survival horror gameplay elements and a decent amount of humor.

Dead Rising has deep ties to Xbox, with several entries being Xbox exclusive, so it’s no surprise that the entire franchise is playable on modern machines. This includes Dead Rising 1, 3, 4, and all four versions of Dead Rising 2.

That’s DR2 vanilla, Case Zero, Case West, and Off the Record. Dead Rising 3 and the DR2 Cases are unavailable on PlayStation, so the series is best experienced on Xbox.

4Alan Wake

Alan Wakeis a complicated series because it’s technically in a shared universe with another Remedy gameControl. There are more things to consider in the deep, complex storyline, but Alan Wake’s remaster and Control are playable on PlayStation.

However, like Arkham Origins, one game is only on Xbox: Alan Wake’s American Nightmare.

In a canonical spin-off entry, you play as Alan Wake, exploring three different locations across three different acts. What makes this game special is the added weapons and Arcade mode.

Using the Nailgun is satisfying as hell, and you might play Arcade mode more than the core game. It’s a short but fun experience that series fans must play.

3Splinter Cell

The second most well-known stealth series has to beSplinter Cell. While there hasn’t been a new entry in so long, several installments are considered one of the best, if not the best, stealth games of all time.

You straight up can’t play any Splinter Cell games on modern PlayStation machines since the last entry was still made for seventh-gen systems.

On modern Xbox consoles, though, you can play every main Splinter Cell game. This includes both versions of Double Agent, which is a sweet bonus.

What’s even better is that all three 360 entries run at nearly 4K on Xbox Series X. This makes Xbox the premier platform for this franchise, plus they’resome of the best stealth games for it.

2Max Payne

Rockstar Games has a legendary pedigree, but one of the series they didn’t develop initially wasMax Payne. The first two incredible titles were by Remedy Entertainment, while Rockstar made the third game in-house.

Playing through the trilogy is still a slow-mo action-packed blast today.

If you game on modern PlayStation hardware, the first title is the only one playable via its small PS2 catalog. Xbox can play the whole trilogy, however, and it’s a treat.

Shame the multiplayer servers for Max Payne 3 were shut down, as that was quite fun.

1Saints Row

Out of all theGTAclones,Saints Rowoutlived and elevated above them all. The best entry, Saints Row 2, did many things legitimately better thanGTA4, which was released earlier in the year.

The graphics were much more vibrant, and it offered its own unique set of fun missions.

Later entries felt quite different, dialing up the comedic tone by a lot, but were still considered a good time by many. All games post-Saints Row 2 are available on PlayStation, but Xbox can play all of them.

Saints Row 1 and 2 often go on sale for sometimes less than $5, and they’re still an enjoyable experience.
